Painful as our playoff runs have been, we've gone through a few years of the Bruins when they were the best defensive team in the league, to the mini-dynasty powerhouse lightning for another few years, then another mini dynasty Panthers team maybe? Ok throw in a Cinderella year for the Habs who waltzed to a final with a mediocre team and a robot for a goalie.

Could be total pipe dream by me, but if he was really a Leaf fan growing up and there's nothing really left to do in his career, chasing Toronto immortality is way more interesting than winning down south.

Sure it would be nice to win a cup with the team you grew up cheering for, but you know what's just as nice if not nicer? Having your name engraved on the Stanley Cup. Maybe if the Leafs looked like they were very close to winning one it might be worth signing with them, but they probably aren't right now so why move to a team to experience the same heartbreak that you've inflicted upon them for so many playoffs?

Tavares chased that dream with the Leafs for 7 years and hasn't come close. Why would Marchand want to be like Tavares?

Yeah, when they went up 3-0 against the Sens and started losing games I thought they have embarrassed us with a series loss after being up 3-1, their next step is to lose one up 3-0.

From what I have noticed, the Hurricanes have too many star players who are like Marner.

Just can't handle the physicality and the Panthers are just running them over anytime the puck is around. They just push them right out of the way and take the puck.

Stars/Oilers will put up a much better fight cause they're built to handle that aggression.

Game 3 Leafs were the better team in the first. Panthers took over the game after the 3-1 goal

Game 4 wasn't close at all except on the scoreboard. Panthers dominated from start to finish.

Leafs were good enough to not get embarrassed in 3 straight games. They were able to match the Panthers for a game and that was it
