Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

It's already started with fans, look at the amount on here convincing themselves Leafs would've rolled Carolina. Maybe, maybe not. But it's very possible the Leafs would've puked all over themselves regardless the quality of their competition. Because history shows us that's what this core does.
Carolina is fast and would have given the Leafs fits. But, the problem is, the Leafs were not good enough to get there and their stars were pushed out of the playoffs.

The Leafs could have handled the speed of Carolina. Plus their would have been room for the core to operate, but you are correct. They were not good enough to get the chance

yeah but guess what, stolarz in game 3 likely prevents us from collapsing and also forces florida to continue struggling on the dump and forecheck hockey they love. it was like having an extra dman to absorb pressure and quickly break out back there. its not by mistake that we looked like a completely different team to start game 1
Or maybe not

Not saying your right or wrong
Just goalies make saves
Our biggest issue was scoring, powerplay etc
We can’t score we can’t win that’s a fact

I agree but scoring starts with stopping the other team from doing what they want in your zone and moving the puck out quickly. you're not going to score much when the other team is doing what they want for long stretches in your zone because your goalie couldn't break their dump in

Stars tend to look like trash following a win. Unless Oettinger can steal a game, I don't see them winning in Edmonton

We saw Knoblauch outcoach DeBoer as the series went on last year. Probably the same outcome here

Yes
My argument is why is other team doing what they want in our zone for most of games?
Not because of our goaltending…all I meant

Dallas isn't going to win every game. They had some good moments and looks good
Jhonston had some nice chances.

Robertson been an absolute no show

They just can't defend very well, especially against the cycle. Got exposed at times vs the Jets but Oettinger bailed them out, and now back to back games where they don't have answer 5 on 5 against the Oilers, especially with the long change in the 2nd.

They have the firepower to stay in games, but they'll need to dig deep and play much better in Edmonton

Stars got dummied last game too. Should have been 6-1 EDM going to the third period. They have trouble finishing, even tonight.

Dallas has been atrocious 5v5 in 2 games. 1 goal.

completely fair. part of it is obviously establishing the zone time which is direct consequence of losing a goalie that essentially acts as a 3rd Dman, but the other part of it is not being able to break cycles (it felt almost by design this year as players would bunch up into a shell with only one active chaser like some kind of weird box+1)
