I think we're definitely not cheating enough. Shanahan and Dubas were boyscouts. All the best teams have been cheating the cap in big ways for years. (This year alone, Florida with Tkachuk LTIR, Edmonton with Kane, Colorado with Landeskog).

Bennett with 9 goals in 15 games is a 49 goal scorer these playoffs. MItch Kerfoot with 2 goals in 13 games is a 13 goal scorer. Pay him.

You would need 2 Bennett's to get to 100 points.

If Bennett gets his 9 million which seems to be the consensus, that gets you 50 of Marners points. Then you need to find someone for 2-4 mil to pick up the other 50.

Interesting that I read that the Leafs might have a plan to make minor signings this year, and save the cap room for next year when the UFA class is loaded. I doubt most of them ever make it to July 1st, and I guess the Leafs can overpay guys on 1 year deals, but I don't like the sound of it

The organization would probably hope a Matthews rebound takes up what 25/30 of those points.

I don't disagree that changes 100% need to be made.

My head will explode if they run it back. Unless they can convince Willy or Matthews to waive, it has to be Marner and JT.
