Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

I just noticed that the three teams in the second round of the playoffs with more points than the Leafs are all down 3-1 in their own series. ( the Jets are down 3-1 against the Stars, the Capitals are down 3-1 against the Hurricanes, and the Golden Knights are down 3-1 against the Oilers)

So if these three teams lose their series and the Leafs win their own series against the panthers, they will have home ice advantage for the rest of the Stanley Cup playoffs ( eastern conference finals/Stanley cup finals)

The path or road to the cup in 2025 will go through Toronto, Ontario.

Jets( president’s trophy winner, top seed in the league 116 points)
Capitals 111 points ( the top seed in the eastern conference)
Golden Knights 110 points ( the second ranked team in the western conference)

Maple Leafs 108 points( the fourth ranked team in the league in points but the second best team in wins behind the Jets)

Stars 106 points
Oilers 101 points
Hurricanes 99 points
Panthers 98 points

The Oilers just proved to everyone that, you can, in fact, win a game without scoring in regulation.

Here we’re not allowed to blame goaltending unless we score 5+.

Former maple leaf kasperi kapanen scores the series winner. He was a healthy stratch before tonight lol.

Oilers advance to the western conference final for the second straight year.
He got put into the lineup last game (game 4) and looked like the best player of the night. Shot out of a cannon hitting everything

Toronto has only scored one goal over its past two games though. Can't imagine many thinking that Game 3 was a good one for either Toronto or Florida's goaltending.

Sure but when you’re out of the game early on shots your goalie should stop it’s pretty discouraging.

Bob faced the tougher chances and allowed 1 goal. Woll somehow allows 5.

It's probably fair to state that Woll has been a problem, but not altogether the problem.

Of course, I obviously wouldn't mind winning a game largely on the back of goaltending as Edmonton essentially just did.

Hear me out - the oilers must win the cup. Why? McDavid is a conscientious and honourable soldier. I can only see him leaving Edmonton for Toronto if he gifts the fans a cup or two. He’s too loyal otherwise. We must do what’s best for our team. We must cheer for the Oilers. Sorry.
