Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

How amazing was that Monahan trade for Montreal.

Get the 16th pick this year for taking him.

Got the first round pick last year from Win for moving him. Still have a 4th in 2027.

Plus Monahan had a great year and Calgary probably makes the playoffs if he was still there.

Disaster for Cal. Incredible for Mon
Monahan sort of f***ed Calgary; what kind of asshole announces he's going to retire and then unretires when the team moves his rights to dump his salary? If all he wanted was to be traded, he could have asked for it, but instead Calgary got ripped off because of him.

Wow. The Oilers look unstoppable. I knew there offense was the best, but their defense and goaltending is outstanding. Dont know how with players like Klinberg, but Vegas cannot get close to the net

Damn Leafs prodigies Brown and Hyman win the game. What a shot by Hyman. I was thinking drop it to Nurse drop it to Nurse but he just ripped it. What a gwg.

Brown looks a lot more confident watching him this post season. He has this cockiness about him now. He's no longer here to just survive in the NHL anymore.

There was a time once where Klingberg really started flying in Dallas and people thought he was one of those late picks that was supposed to turn into an absolute stud. Then he got injured I think. From reading what Oilers fans are saying they are happy with his play.

Years ago players said it can take up to 18 months after ACL to feel like normal.

That Oilers game reminded me just how much I detest Dubas. Just from that game.

Trades Brown to the damn Sens
Lets Hyman walk
Chooses to sign Simmonds over Perry
Waives Pickard in favour of Sparks

Sigh. I know move on and all but ugh.

I think it was Thornton over Perry but either way. Poor personnel choices made by management during our cores formative years. Including Lou choosing Marleau over Justin Williams.

Wow. I don't remember hearing that. That is pretty low.

You don't remember that because it didn't happen.

Monahan had gone downhill, and wasn't worth anywhere near the $6.5M he was earning, so Calgary unloaded him to Montreal at the cost of a first round pick for future considerations. It was the exact same type trade Dubas made with Marleau that he was so heavily criticized for. If Monahan was gonna retire there would have been no need for Treliving to make such a horrible trade because his cap hit would no longer be an issue.

Not everything you read on the internet is true but with a little research and common sense you can usually separate fact from fiction pretty quick.

At the rate things are going, the Leafs and the Oilers could be lining up in the Cup final.

There is really only 2 teams I think that can stop Toronto. Florida and Edmonton. If we get past the Panthers who is better than the Leafs? Washington… Carolina….. no. Vegas meh.. they look super average tbh. Winnipeg.. Dallas? Maybe.

I’m not trying to act cocky but I’m watching last night and I’m like Vegas looks so ordinary, it’s like a regular season game. I’m watching Washington and Carolina and it was like a regular season game. This is really the best left?

If the Leafs can get by Florida I think they are favoured to go to the finals.

But I thought that against Car, Buf, Van and Mon so what do I know?
