Yeah I read I don't even know how many posts in the Marner threads about how Marner's better because Rantanen is a product of MacKinnon. And now, what I just watched was almost unbelievable, that has to be one of the most legendary performances in hockey history.

We all knew Rants was a playoff gamer before this too. That same crowd hurled nonsense insults like "boxscore watcher" when they themselves probably never even watched 1 game of Rants in the posteason.

Like you said - the lack of self awareness in that crew is just f***ing astonishing sometimes.

That swagger goal to get Dallas on board by Rantanen was epic...skating down into the offensive zone, pivots to the middle of the ice to open up space, then snipes top shelf with a rocket.

Can you see Marner scoring a goal like Rantanen's second goal tonight? He would have skated around the net and kept skating around the perimeter and back to the blueline, his safe place.

I can see him scoring the 3rd Rantanen goal.

That was an awesome series capped off by the drama with Rantanen geting revenge on the team that foolishly traded him away and no one really knew if he would do it as hes been so hot and cold. Best series of the first round IMO.

First this is a Leafs board.

Secondly, Marner blocked a trade to Carolina so Rantanen couldn't come to Toronto, it's only natural for people to talk about Marner.

Tre blew it. He should have had Marner agree to a trade this summer and them traded for him when the Canes did. Ranta would have signed here for less than Matthews.

Marner shouldn't even be in the same conversation as Rantanen when it comes to the playoffs.

Regardless, I hope Marner plays out of his mind against Florida and beyond.

Minnesota is a great state for the sport of hockey itself but the Wild are like the literal definition of meh. I swear, they're Foo Fighters the Hockey Team.

If you told me at the start of the year that a team would trade a player who would lead a third period, game 7 comeback with a hat trick against his original team, I would have bet a substantial sum it would have been the Leafs losing the game.

That, my friends, is a VERY Leafy thing to have happen to a team.
