Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

There literally are people on this board that care more about a GM than the team. How f***ing pathetic is that?
They also care about our star player making more money (and thus hurting the team more) just for the pure sake of them being correct on the internet.

Cannot stand that shit at all.

I know I'm being petty but these f***ing dorks who keep peddling their nonsense advanced stats need to stfu and be humble once awhile. Stop pretending you know shit you don't.
Advanced stats are a computer simulation. Ridiculous to take the human element out of a human sport and try to draw conclusions.

I'd like nothing more than to be proven wrong about each and every one of these guys.

PK Subban on ESPN: if you want to be paid 11-12-13 million, you have to perform like Rantanen.

No chance Mitch can do that in the playoffs. Give him Willie's contract or let him walk.
Sebastian Aho against New Jersey was another glowing example of this. And he ain't even in that price range.

If Mitchie wants that money then he better f***ing show something against Florida.

They never should have lost Kadri IMO. He was the perfect 2nd line center for them.
Yes that was a huge miss. They instead committed money to guys like Manson, EJ and kept trying bandaid solutions like Compher, Mittelstadt, Colton, Newhook, brought in a washed up Ryjo, and eventually paid a king's ransom for Nelson who didn't end up doing much. Kadri at 7 right now would be a bargain too.

Yes, it's a joke that Marner's looking to be paid like Draisaitl...a complete joke, and some are happy to pay him around $13 million when Rantanen got $12 million...crazy nonsense!

Jeezus, didnt really read the rest of the thread.

That was an awesome series capped off by the drama with Rantanen geting revenge on the team that foolishly traded him away and no one really knew if he would do it as hes been so hot and cold. Best series of the first round IMO.

What kind of pathetic Leaf fan comes in here and starts chirping about Marner?

But but but small sample size

but but but powerplay

but but but product of Mackinnon

I still hold hope one day that maybe we can have some objective discussions on HFLeafs one day. Won't hold my breath though.
Yeah I read I don't even know how many posts in the Marner threads about how Marner's better because Rantanen is a product of MacKinnon. And now, what I just watched was almost unbelievable, that has to be one of the most legendary performances in hockey history.

Marner has a chance to show his worth against Florida, we'll see. I don't think anyone is even hoping for the kind of show that Rantanen just put on, but he needs to be a whole lot better than he was two years ago against Florida, that's for damn sure.

Our chokers would have gone home after the Avs went up 2-0 in the 3rd.
That swagger goal to get Dallas on board by Rantanen was epic...skating down into the offensive zone, pivots to the middle of the ice to open up space, then snipes top shelf with a rocket...then ties it on the PP with an individual effort.
