Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

I can't believe anyone would say Marner should have been up for the Hart.

He had an excellent season, but not Hart worthy
It was talked abut briefly in November when he had his best month. No way he was in the Hart conversation for me and of course it played out that way. BTW, he's not winning a Conn Smythe either.

We had a 3 0 lead in the series while all other Eastern series were at 2 1..well instead of being first to end a series now we are the last ( if we win)
yup, must sting also knowing Florida, Carolina, AND Washington were both up 3-1 and closed out the series the day after the Leafs lost when up 3-1. Especially if they don't win tonight.

Clearly closing out series and not having your offence completely dry up is doable. It's just the Leafs that make this look impossible. Both Carolina and Washington have had a reputation for choking and even they closed it out. Literally the 1 team who didn't get it done.

All games today the series is 3-2. It would be embarrassing if the Knights and the Oilers in a similar situation playing against a much worse team can close it out , but the Leafs can't. I think they do it today though.

Gotta stop the little flips.
I don’t understand. Out play them. Get a lead. Then just stop?

Why. You can not pinch but still fight for the puck.

I think everyone saw that coming a mile away. Huge improvement for the Rangers there I think.

They are going to have a 1-year or 2-year bump and then it'll wear thin.

Rangers are more flawed than the playoff-hungry owner realizes.

All 4 east teams ready to go... all 4 west still fighting it out lol

In the end ... better for whatever east team comes out on top

Rangers are still a team with plenty of talent. Someone like Sullivan I think can do a lot of work. Elite goaltender helps too. A couple good trades/signings this off-season and they likely could be a contender again.
Yeah I buy this. Not really sure what Sullivan was supposed to do with the Pens when their best players are over 35 and their long term success lead to a pathetic prospect pool.

Was interesting to have the East entirely wrapped up before any of the Western teams punched their ticket to the next round (VGK obviously has now done so). Round 2 should be more competitive in the East than the opening round was (no sweeps but also no Game 7s).
