Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

For the next couple of hours at least, every series in the West is 2-2 and every series in the East is 3-1. Pathetic officiating that Ekblad wasn't tossed let alone penalized for that hit on Hagel and he scored the game tying goal.
Strange one that with the official clearly looking directly at that play. He made a choice not to call that, which I don't understand. You could argue minor vs major, but nothing should not have been an option imo.

For me TB has been overrated this season and Florida underrated.

When healthy, Florida is the best playoff hockey team in the league.

They just play such a heavy demanding style that's hard to deal with.

Florida is so suffocating. Very little space to operate out there against them. Combine that with the fact that they've got skilled scorers, a great goalie, and are allowed to be dirty as f*** and they're the most frustrating team in the league.

The Leafs play the same way minus the dirty stuff. Sure we get in some shots, but nothing like what these guys do. Tight defence with opportunistic offence and way above average goaltending.

Yep, agree. Really hard to beat Panthers from top to bottom. They're just so deep

And Tampa blows. They were really lucky to win game 3. I think they may squeak out another win in game 5, but this is done in 6 max

How did Dallas pick up Wyatt Jhonston at 23 overall and he was NHL ready the same year?
Kudos to them for giving them a fair opportunity instead of letting him 'marinate' in the minors

It feels like he's been in NHL forever

That was the Covid draft.

He scored 30 points in 2020.

OHL was shut down during his draft year.

He scored 124 point in 2022 after being drafted.

idc gonna say what a lot of us are thinking.. The Leafs aren't beating the panthers. This sucks
I think they can. The Leafs play the right style. Have a much improved defence and much improved goaltending.

It would be low scoring and special teams will play a major factor if that is the matchup for round two.

I think the Leafs are better equipped this season than they were two seasons ago, that's for sure.

Believe he was in a weak draft class and I think his draft year was the season the OHL cancelled the season because of Covid. I think a lot of the others drafted ahead of him either played in USHL/NCAA or went and played in Europe somewhere while he didn't play at all.
