Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

Lou left that team in a complete and utter mess. It will be a decade before the Islanders are a legitimate team again.
Doubt that unless the next GM is a huge idiot. Perfect time to be tanking with McKenna next year and DuPont the year after that and the 12th pick this draft?. They have some attractive pieces teams will want too if they retain and possibly a 3rd team as well. Obviously need some luck for all that to play out but could be a fun job for the next GM.

interestingly, all 3 of Caps goals last night came form Ovi just trying to get the puck on net, rather than blasting it. Especially the 2nd goal. Wonder why the Leafs defence rarely gets those point shots through for a deflection or rebound goal

Lou has had a historic career and will be a well deserved entry into the HHOF with his time with the Devils alone. He also should have likely retired years ago.

And his son absolutely shouldn't be anywhere near that GM role if they want to be successful..the Isles need a fundamental organizational teardown and rebuild.

I mean the isles have made the playoffs 6 of the last 8 years and had more success than the Leafs in the post season despite missing this year. I think both teams are probably in a similar position of trying to add a few pieces to push them over the top before their core ages out/gets too expensive. It's been a weird year where both the Isles and Rangers missed but the Habs somehow didn't.

Damn Jarvis is good at hockey.

Also interesting to see Keefe coached Devils struggling the shift after a goal in the playoffs, with a goal against review 20 seconds later. No goal though.

Sure Devils are missing their best player, but Keefe has to be the worst around at preparing his teams for Playoff hockey. Keefe teams always seem to underachieve.

He's gotta stop trying to make his son a thing at the GM level. Just screams bad mom and pop franchise and nepo baby nonsense.
