Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

In an alternate universe it is conceivable that Matthews Marner Nylander Tavares kept lighting the lamp and put in heroic performances like McDrai consistently for the last 8 years in the post season but the Leafs kept getting eliminated because of bad goaltending and no contribution from anyone else and defensive breakdowns.

Shit all of that has been happening except the first part for the last 8 years. This team might be more cup ready right now than we realize. We are due for a big post season from the big 4 and depth contribution at this point
 
Great to wake up and hear that TTOE and Edmonton lost.

ETA…. I don't like hearing it was close and went to OT.

You probably would have hated the gamea.

Was blew a 2 goal lead in the 3rd, while LA blew a 4 goal lead only to score with a min left
 
Skinner is so bad! Dude went into auto butterfly position and just hoped the puck would hit him. He had no idea where the puck was. Sure it was completely fanned on by Danault but the whole key for a goalie is to track the puck, Skinner had no clue. One of the worst goalie performances I’ve ever seen. 6 goals on 30 shots… yikes

I don’t care how they do it. They have a lot of fans on here, but any year TTOE doesn’t win, is a good year.

I think you still have to expect an NHL level save on one of the Kings 6 regulation goals. The back breaking timing too.
 
Ekholm being out is a big hole but it’s not a 6 goal difference. Fact is Skinner has to stop at least 2 or 3 of those 6 goals

Both LA and Washington dominated for the first two periods and both teams nearly blew it. That Oilers game was awesome last night

I heard Tom Wilson mention that the Caps took their foot off the gas and it nearly cost them.

I think McDavid willed his team back but good luck with Skinner and that D without Ekholm.

Maybe, but putting McDrai on the same line every damn time is getting old. They are one line team, but two elite forward saving their beacon every single year. In every series I just wait for them to lose steam and be average next game. It did not happen yet, but with injuries and age it would start eventually. It’s not good strategy for winning the Cup(s).
Every coach no matter what they say in the begging is ending up putting McDrai on the same line. 😂

It really only happens when they are behind.

They are on seperate lines except for the PP in most games.

Last year in po they were alway behind. And it starts the same way again. Them being on separate lines rarely works especially against good teams and then it’s back to stacked line.
