Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

42 goals is like a walk in the park for this guy at 39 years of age.

He’ll end up with ~930 so it’ll take more than 31 more years until someone breaks it.

The rules change all the time, who knows what impact that could have.

They outlawed the can-opener and that neutered McCabe.

Some played in the piggyback era, where you could ride on the back of someone like Sundin.

All the touch the hands penalty powerplays today. Not slash, not hook, touch and it's a call.

Looks like I’ll need to start they NHL boycott as soon as the Ovie watch is over until that team out east gets eliminated.
Serious question: if Montreal catches Ottawa and the first round becomes Toronto/Montreal, do you really not watch that series?

Something tells me that Florida is trying to tank to the wild card spot to get a potential matchup with us.

And yet I bet they beat Detroit today anyway. Then they will lose to the Leafs, after which Florida will start resting whoever they can until the end of the season.

The wild part is he was never (maybe at some point?) ahead of Gretzky’s pace his entire career until after today:

Ovechkin: 895 goals in 1487 games.

Gretzky: 894 goals in 1487 games.
Ovi had 2 goals in his first game, Gretzky had an assist, so Ovi was definitely ahead early, and was actually up one after their first year (52-51). Never realized that.
