Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Habs vs panthers
Bruins vs lightning

I know both teams are our eternal rivals but we need the habs and the bruins to win their games tonight. It will help the position of the Leafs in the standings. Tonight, If the Maple Leafs win against the sens, and Tampa loses at Boston, they will be 4 points behind us with the same number of games played and if Florida also loses in montreal, they will only be 2 points ahead of us, but the leafs will still have one More game in hand over the panthers.

Imagine if Marner did that here. (Or any leaf)
This is why Vegas and teams in the south can do what they want and "easier" to win in lol it'll be forgotten by tomorrow and theyll keep chugging along.
Yep. Media coverage and fan interest around hockey is much weaker in quantity and much softer in intensity down south than here. Because hockey has no presence, history and roots in most U.S states. In fact, there’s no hockey tradition in most areas of the United States. That’s why they get away with things easier than up here , can escape criticism and enjoy peace because most people don’t know and don’t care about hockey there. They have no hockey knowledge and emotional investment in their teams. The Southern teams play under no pressure, there’s no toxic media around them. Most people don’t care enough about hockey to hold them accountable for their performances and results. Since they don’t know or follow hockey that much, They have very few expectations for them as a result.

Here in Canada, If a player, no matter his status, on the Maple Leafs or the Canadiens or the Oilers ever looks at someone the wrong way, the incident would make headline news on every media platform. Every Leafs move or news is exposed, discussed and dissected 24/7. So imagine a dumb and unnecessary play like this that cost the team a important point in the standings. People would call Marner immature for missing the easy empty net goal because he wanted to make a fancy, superfluous and risky pass to his teammate behind him.
