Complete disaster of asset management from the Oilers. Literally let two former first round picks walk out the door because you didn’t want to pay them a bit more than market value. Holloway at 2.25 million is a steal and Broberg at 4.45 million is a steal. Their extensions are going to be rich in two years but how do you let these kids walk. Sure they got a 2nd and a 3rd as compensation but Edmonton could really use two young players like that right now. They really decided to keep Jarnmark over Holloway lol 😂 just look at their stats

The 2nd and 3rd as compensation won't bring back equal players. They done messed up. You hate to see it.

Letting Holloway walk was a weird one to me. Definitely would have matched the next day. A 22 year old that kept improving and fit exactly what you wanted/needed in your top 9.

I understood the Broberg one though since that was a pretty big overpay for someone that had struggled to even get into the lineup.... it was a good gamble from the Blues. I was wrong with how that one turned out.

Broberg was thrilled to get out of Edmonton who he thought wasn't giving him a fair chance. He was complaining about being sent to the minors at age 22.

But yeah, $4.5mm for an unproven defender.
He is 6'4", 212 lb. and I thought he looked fine in the playoffs.

Good drafting, poor follow-up.

Skinner $3mm versus Holloway at 2*$2.3mm.

Everyone called that a huge win for the Oilers at the time. Savoie might be a very good player down the line but in the short-term, Oilers lost a lot of really good depth with a center like McLeod.
