Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

Carolina is resting guys but they do not look playoff ready from what I've seen this week. So medicore.

Can't Carolina just turn it on for a bit? Nobody wants to see the f***in' Habs in the playoffs.

Habs look like they're at maximum exertion just playing their "meaningful games". If they hang onto 8th, I think Washington batters them in short order.

Carolina doesn't look right, think they took a few steps back after that Necas/Rantanen/Stankoven transformation.

Of course Carolina doesn’t look right. They are sitting all of their good players. Habs still can’t take advantage of that.

The Carolina Hurricanes have the following players listed as healthy scratches for tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens: Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, Jackson Blake, Jordan Staal, Jordan Martinook, Jaccob Slavin, Jalen Chatfield, and Jesper Fast

Suzuki scores, 2-1 habs. Suzuki didn't one time that pass. I feel like 10 years ago that's an automatic one timer. Nice goal but I wonder if the Ovi style one timers are a dying art or it's just a Leafs forwards thing.

Losing Necas and frankly having nothing in return will do that to you

They have no game breakers. After Aho and Jarvis, there's a massive drop in production

Feels like they genius'ed their way to closing their cup window between that Necas deal, going after Guentzel last year and fumbling it, losing Pesce and never upgrading their goaltending. They have a great pipeline and will be fine but they seem to be past peak.

Of course I suggest the Habs can’t even beat this depleted Hurricanes team and then they score two.

Habs look like shit to be honest.. Carolina is resting guys but holy shit they look hot garbage at the worst time. I wouldn’t be surprised if NJ swept them. Something is off with that team

i hope the canes get swept by the devils

all they had to do was win against a wc team and they couldn't do that.

barring a major choke habs are in
Carolina was always going to mail this one in. Their forward lineup in this game is laughable, but no different than what Vegas did last night against Calgary. The only reason the Leafs won't do it on Thursday is because they don't have the cap space.

And yet I expect Carolina to come out of the Metro, only because that's how bad the Metro is.

Watching Ovi live post record I'm not sure what to make of this experiment. He spends every chance he gets sitting on the boards, during gameplay half the time the team pretends he doesn't exist, he doesn't play any defence at all - if there's even a puck battle he's over the blueline then circling back - and if someone finds a moment in the o-zone they first look to his office to see if there's an opening.

I'm not sure how well it's all going to work in the playoffs. Though you try to resist doubting Ovi..

That’s also true, Washington might collapse like a house of cards since they’re limping into the playoffs too…

That said Ovi’s been playing like that for years. I saw him live one time like 10 years ago and he was just leaning up against the far boards waiting for an outlet pass. He was so lazy. I mean efficient.

Yeah there's that. I've spent a lot of time in DC last decade and have seen Ovi probably 30 some times (caught all four games against the legendary Pens series).

He's always had 'efficiency', but this was particularly awkward, as far as one game goes.
