The Flames "W" tonight basically symbolizes their entire history. Team is complete ass, give up tons of breakaways, odd man rushes and none of it matters because you always got goaltending back there stopping everything. Vladar made about six stops tonight that the Oilers just don't get, and a couple posts to help out as well.

Of course the flames also get their scripted PP leading into OT (this happens everytime I watch the Flames) and lol vegas break two sticks on the PK already down a man and somehow Flames don't score. But then score with 4 secs left because the SC champs dont' even bother winding out the OT properly.

bleh. Mostly I was doing work around the house but watching some of it. I should never watch a flamers game.

of course the worst result, a 3pt game, and the worst being the Flamers get the two points which doesn't help the Oilers in any way imaginable.

Vegas looks like they are just taking it easy. Very low event game. CGY has more legs

To say that Vegas was slow and disinterested tonight is understatement. But still getting most of the quality chances and around 3 in succession on one Flames PP.

As per usual the whole telecast is how the flames are playing as they give up breakaway after breakaway. The Flames allow more heater chances than the Oilers do, but 1GA and goaltending every night standing on its head.

The Blackhawks are botching the communication on this to an incredible degree.

"Corey Perry has left the team and is taking leave for personal reasons" would have been enough to have it go away relatively quickly had it been announced on day 1.

Can't do that though. Have to scratch him, say nothing, force everyone in the organization to field questions on it for a week, allow rumors to swirl, then release an ambiguous statement to be talked about in a press conference hours later creating conditions for even more innuendo and speculation.

If I were Bedard I would be furious. Even if the rumors are true, they have a far lower chance of becoming public domain if they announced a leave of absence for personal reasons right out of the gate. People assume "personal reasons" usually means drug/alcohol or mental health problems and they don't pry. It was right there for them to take, but they had to make a circus out of it instead.
