Anytime I hear people talk about how we employ the “swarm” defense, I think to myself…it sounds as stupid as it looks on the ice.
Yet the coaches probably think they are smart because such a defence is so free flowing and structure-less.

It reminds me of the "total football" soccer setup/strategy. It sounds good but in reality its extremely hard to pull off and requires specific type of players to do so.

Total Football's tactical success depends largely on the adaptability of each footballer within the team, in particular the ability to quickly switch positions depending on the on-field situation. The theory requires players to be comfortable in multiple positions; hence, it requires intelligent and technically diverse players.

The Devils made shirts at the beginning of the 2012 playoffs that said 'Swarm it up!'. They were playing a different defensive style, but it's not an unheard of concept outside of that.

That was a forechecking concept, not defensive, which actually makes sense.

Defensive structures should not be complex. That’s just f***ing stupid.

I missed nepotism chat. I guess Lou Reycroft retired but he was a longtime scout for us. His son was my physics and calculus teacher. He was awful. Real laid back to a fault.
You teacher was too laid back?
Reycroft was a long time scout all right, 1993-2020.

It’s…not pretty

If this can be corroborated forget cutting him, he should be in jail

To me, the only thing that matters in that entire statement is what Ian allegedly did.

Everything else stated is just repeating what we already knew about the NHL and misogyny. (not holding my breath that this gets addressed)

and I agree that if this is true, then she should be pressing charges instead of putting out a statement.

Last I checked, there is no Statute of Limitations on this.

She could still press charges, I think.

Oh boy.

This makes his Carolina sex scandal quaint in comparison.

If people didn’t hear about that, he’s married and had an affair with a local tv reporter who covers the Canes. She was engaged (maybe they worked it out and she still is lol, I didn’t follow it closely).

I don’t exactly know why but it became very public news.

Live Update: Looked it up, apparently her fiancé sent an email to Bally Sports (she worked for them) about the affair and that broke the story. So they probably did not work it out.

Pressing charges over past events is easier said than done, especially in situations relating to sexual assault.

Sometimes outing the dude as a terrible person and abuser is significantly less stressful slash the best you can do.

Yeah..... He's pretty much done.

Or at least he should be. I can't see Tampa going through with a game with him on the roster.

I'm not sure if you can legally terminate his contract based on this (or at least not just yet) but they may even pay him to just go away and not go to their AHL team either.

Yeah you're probably right but it still doesn't deliver any sort of actual justice his way, though.

I can see them doing the bolded and then have him get blackballed from the NHL entirely.
