How is this not a form of cap circumvention? Tampa just traded two players and a pick for two players who will likely never played again and will get cap room + whatever benefit from stashing them on LTIR for the entire season. It's dumb and should have been removed from the CBA in the summer.
By using it in a negative fashion. They are following the rules and using them to their advantage. If they oilers could find ways to circumvent then cap instead of just buying out players we would be better off.
Every owner and GM in the league would love to find themselves in Tampa’s position, and therefore the rules won’t be changing anytime soon.
