Well didn’t the City of LA just announce that nothing is being cancelled with the LA Marathon weekend?

California has declared a state of emergency for coronavirus but i think this is to get funds.

Coronavirus isn’t something to blow off, in fact data so far shows it’s really dangerous to old men with health issues, but it doesn’t seem like the Black Death that has been passed around. Not to mention that it totally just screwed everyone who has 401k accounts.
Yes, but all flu strains are dangerous to older men with chronic health problems.

Less than 20 people in the United States, almost all elderly in their 70's and 80's have died from the corona virus. I think right now it is fear of the unknown. Far more Americans die from other types of flu every year. I have heard the 24-hour news spin cycle lament, "There is no vaccine for this. There is no cure." Well, guess what? The flu vaccine every year is often only 10% effective. So, there is no vaccine for the other flu strains either.

If you are elderly and in poor health it is wise to take precautions. Self quarantine if necessary. The last place you probably want to go now is to the hospital or doctor's office. Those places are full of sick people.

From the main board. These are nice to look at!

Nah, this would be too easy and make too much sense. These uniforms would be too recognizable and you would instantly know it was the Kings playing if you glanced up at a TV screen in a restaurant as you were walking through an airport. You might stop and actually watch the game for a few minutes.

The last thing the Kings want right now is that kind of attention. Better to go with the anonymous black and white crap they wear now.

Agreed. What really pisses me off is the overreaction. Coronavirus IS super dangerous for the exact people you discussed but it’s not fatally dangerous to the rest of us any more than the normal flu. And kids under 11 or so almost seem immune. And yet we are literary melting down our economic engine that will hurt most of us well beyond any contact with the virus. To me it’s like a type of virtue signaling where entities are trying to one up each other.

Trying one more time to tie this back to topic before deleting the OT posts:

I think they are on topic. If you are between the ages of 10 and 60, you probably have nothing to fear when it comes to attending a game, as long as you are in good health generally.

As it pertains to league operations, absolutely. But we're straddling a line when we start talking in generalities, and crossing it when we get into politics and virtue.

Tampa/Boston game an entertaining and nasty affair.

I’m tired of the ass kissing Chara gets from some of the media, he’s a dirty rat.

Hedman left this game injured. Would obviously be a big loss if he was out an extended period as the Bolts are already without Stamkos.

That was a wild game. Refs were clearly overwhelmed, they could have called something or more every stoppage

Bruins know what they are though, that's just what they do. Funny watching TBL try to play into that. They're still ripe for an early exit imo, softest team out there. Easy to rattle.

Tampa isn’t as soft as previous seasons. They never had guys like Maroon, Goodrow, Bogosian and Coleman who can play more of a gritty workmanlike game. I think it will help them come playoff time.

Their concern right now is the health of Hedman and Stamkos. Need those two ready to rock come April.

Wouldn’t be too upset to see TB/Bos series. Would be great theatre.

But it's a tradeoff--their best players aren't gritty at all, and most of their gritty players shouldn't see many minutes.

Contrast that with Boston whose best players are a pain in your ass all game.

Boston wins if TBL is playing Goodrow and Bogosian big minutes to 'keep up.' That's the flaw.

I think TBL does have some guys that excel under that pressure/physical play but it sure ain't Kucherov, Hedman, and Stamkos. Those guys absolutely wilt, and Kucherov and Hedman in particular start looking to take selfish penalties in revenge.

Playoffs are still banging and bruising affairs. Teams need to have skill and grit. It’s a balance. Buy in and effort can also overcome a lot. Having a hot goalie is yet another factor. Tampa has the ability. Maybe they learned a lesson last year. Philly could be a dark horse.
