Werenski, 19, has five goals and eight assists for 13 points in his first 14 NHL games.
Going under the radar a bit due to the other rookies getting ink but I've seen a few BJ games and he's very good, very impressive.
I watched a lot of the BJ/Caps game last night, Good game and glad to see the BJ's get the Win in OT.
And Patrick Laine is the real deal, 12 goals and 17 pts so far...
I'm stoked that all the young talent in the league is coming up big. Changing of the guard over the next year or two. It's crazy. And yeah, I started thinking Werenski was something else in the AHL playoffs, knew he'd be something, just didn't think it would be this quickly. I don't say this lightly, but he seems to think the game like Lidstrom.
“(Werenski is) one of the smarter defensive players,” said Michigan coach Red Berenson. “He’s a little bit like Lidstrom was with Detroit. … He’s got a really smart stick. Physically, he gets involved if he has to, but his first choice is to play the puck and to play his position well.
And a proposal that the shootout rules be changed to mirror international rules, that you can use the same shooters again.
I hate shootouts and IMO would make them worse. What they should do is 3 pts for Reg win, 2 for OT win and 0 for OT loss. You should not be rewarded for losing.
Teams already get 0 points for losing in OT.
OT today is almost a separate event today. What happens at the 60 minute mark now is what used to happen at the 65 minute mark. Teams are tied, they split 2 points. You get an extra point in the standings if you win after regulation, when they now take 4 players off the ice, and there's a breakaway contest.
I didn't put that right, I don't agree with the losing team getting a point. I've seen too many teams quitting in the 3rd, content to go to OT and get that point.
shootout- A skills competition shouldn't decide a game.
I would rather have 3 pts for reg win, 2 for OT win and 0 for an 0T loss. The team that wins in OT gets all the points, no loser points.
Hall back in NJ for tests and will likely miss the California portion of this road trip. Mike Cammalleri has been out for personal reasons. John Hynes mentioned there was a chance Cammalleri could rejoin the team on the road trip.

Several players I've talked to said if they're selected to respective Olympic teams, they're going no matter what NHL says.
So if the NHL elects not to go, So those players are on their own as far as paying for hotels, etc but what about insurance? If they get hurt, then they forgo their salary until they can play again? And for the games they miss as it will be during the season?
Didn't Fasel say this morning he 'found' 10m to support it? I assume the insurance would come out of that a bit.
But good on the players to talk about how important this is to them.
Ouch...dude has bad mojo in the legs...

#TBLightning captain Steven Stamkos is out indefinitely with a lateral meniscus tear, per GM Steve Yzerman.
How to I search my posts? Cause I said Werenski would be te top d-man taken in the draft a head of Provorov.
One could say even a broke clock is right twice a day but still.

Continue here.
Poor Jack Johnson.
Johnson will keep $246,000 for “living expenses” each of the next two seasons. In the following three seasons, he’ll get to keep $277,050.50 per season until all his creditors are satisfied.
