From what I've read, nobody's doing anything this season. There's been i think 1 trade the entire year. A GM was quoted saying "I can't even make a bad trade" it's been that quiet.

With the way Cap has been stagnant, and the uncertain future of the CDN dollar. Oil prices continue to get cheaper here in the states, Gas is ridiculous cheap for California. Haven't seen prices like this in what ? decades ?

Owners are probably tightening budgets.

Have had Center Ice for two weeks now. Very interesting surveying different announcing crews throughout the league (that I didn't already know).

The Wild PbP is a screeeeaaaaaammmmeerrrrrrrr

"By defeating the Coyotes in seven games." - Burnside

That guy should have lost his press credentials the moment he made that prediction. Still can't believe anyone even pays attention to that doofus.

(1) Because Bernier is so bad? or

(2) That he shut the Kings out?

Both and more. The Leafs don't even look like the same team that played the Kings, especially on goal 2. They had 4 guys on one side of the ice leaving someone wide open in front of the net .

made a bunch of trades when they didn't need to, now refuse to make any moves or fire the coach when they clearly need some life.

Murray has been fantastic with a lot of things but since the WCF he's been bamboozled.

Think it was their internal budget. Lot of the depth guys were due raises and they moved them out for cheaper options.

Time to look at poaching some of the Ducks RFA's that need raises this year. :naughty:

Goalie on a hot streak, that hadn't won a game this year. Nothing to see here move along.

You have to wonder if it's the lack of up ice pressure that allows bad teams to stay in it against the Kings. Really outside of Nolan I don't remember the Kings really having an odd man break.

And speaking of the Ducks, the only guy who has been consistently good on that team all year is Sami Vatanen. Would love to have that guy on the Kings, reminds me of a better version of Voynov.

And the Ducks are going to have a hell of a battle for their green jacket, atleast when Richards was winning it for the Kings it was with major caliber scores like -8, -6 etc. Right now the Ducks look like Tiger Woods in his prime playing a municipal course. Kesler is on pace to win it with a -35. With Fowler and Cogliano not far behind.

There goes my Komarov for 3rd line pipe dream, heh.

Not necessarily, TSN has an article today on that problem facing the Leafs. He's been their most valuable player and as much as given all he does, in every game situation, a player you like to keep , he is drawing interest and it's likely his trade value will never be as high, and with a lot of teams looking for a good center.

It's not just the 15 goals and 24 pts in 32 games , it's that he does everything well.

Now in his third NHL season, Komarov is doing a little bit of everything for the Leafs. He kills penalties, scores goals, occupies the net front on the power play, draws penalties, and causes a nuisance nightly with his never-ending physicality. He’s garnering a career-high of nearly 17 minutes a night on the team’s top line.

He's got a great attitude, do 'whatever it takes, including blocking shots ' to win. Given how hard he works every shift and the payoff it's been providing, with the Leafs looking to go younger and bring up top prospects next year, he's be a good mentor/leader.

However, his trade value will never be as high and they'd get a decent return for him.

I'm impressed every time I watch him , he's one of those players whose driven on every shift, and if you play him with finishers, you get good results. He's shooting close to 25% which is at the top of the league leaders.

Then there is this:

Komarov and Stars captain Jamie Benn are the only two players in the league at this point leading their respective teams in goals, points and hits.

That a combination that every team would love to have.
I think they'll trade him in Feb and get a good return.

But he wouldn't be as offensively effective on the kings ,I think because he'd be buried on the 3rd line in Sutter's stifling defensive system.
And I think other teams might offer more that DL can. Too many teams that are starved for centers, one of which will overpay.
