Great minds
wow, talk about a victim complex. Who give a f*** about potential health risks to others, as long as you get your fix, right?I prefer intellectualism and freedom. Obviously you Liberals don't understand freedom. Shunning smokers is the same as Trump not letting Immigrants in basically. Hypocritical. Your body, Your choice #MeToo. You already pushed smoker into the concourse around the dome. Now all the air is yours so you can live your perfect lives so that no one else can? Hate to tell you but, those chairs and the Saddledome is filled with mold after the flood.

I am sure his name was William WallaceObviously you are part of the system.... In the words of William Wallace "FREEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM"
No body said anything about smoking indoors, but if you don’t give smokers a place to go, they will smoke anyways. I’d rather have a place for smokers to go, so that I’m not taking my kids into a smoke filled washroom, walking though butts in every dark corner or have some idiot sneaking a quick vape down the hallway. So bars, clubs, and casinos, places that are strictly 18+ adults-only areas which serve alcohol already ban smoking indoors.
Why should a family venue (the Saddledome) which has alcohol service (like restaurants do) continue to allow that behaviour? The University of Calgary's concert venue doesn't allow it. The Jubilee doesn't allow it. Both venues existed before and after the smoking ban took place. Why should the Saddledome become the exception?
Hell, you can't even smoke in Canada Olympic Plaza normally downtown, and that's an open air venue that doesn't serve alcohol at all unless it's a private event with a beer garden.
Furthermore, if you don't want to watch concerts, performers, NHL hockey, that is your right to choose to do so just as it is the right of the venue's ownership/management to establish the rules of their property. It goes both ways - "my roof, my rules", as mom used to say. Try to find a venue that does allow it - there aren't many left in Canada, especially for hockey - and enjoy your entertainment there.
Allowing smoking at a venue like the Saddledome could be a liability issue. If they allow it anywhere (even in a pen outside), it still has to be staffed. No body said anything about smoking indoors, but if you don’t give smokers a place to go, they will smoke anyways. I agree it seems pretty stupid to allow a very harmful drug that makes people do stupid ass **** in alcohol, while eliminating drugs that are relatively benign in terms of how they change a person’s behaviour like in marijuana or tobacco. But I guess that’s just our alcohol based society sticking to its culturally hegemonic values...
Which could theoretically cost someone their job if they do drug testingThere's one difference between smoking and drinking: you dont get drunk if you sit next to a person drinking, but you do get smoke in you if you sit next to a person smoking.

But no one is saying you should be allowed to smoke inside. Smoking inside is disgusting.
I’m not even a smoker. But do I care if other people go out and smoke? No. They pay their taxes so when they get lung cancer and our socialized medicine has to pay for their treatment, our government can afford it.
Trying to get other people to stop smoking while at the same time encouraging and profiting off a more destructive drug, in alcohol, is not only hypocritical, but laughable
On the other hand, smoking is harmful and/or offensive directly to others. That is not true of alcohol.I agree it seems pretty stupid to allow a very harmful drug that makes people do stupid ass **** in alcohol, while eliminating drugs that are relatively benign in terms of how they change a person’s behaviour like in marijuana or tobacco.
