McDavid's stats are unquestionably great in this postseason. I'm sure there is some context, but I don't see anyone going back to check on Gretzky's garbage time points.
Personally, I thought Bob. Any of the three of them had a case, IMO.
The problem as I see it is that, with so much sports media (acknowledging of course that there's less of it in hockey than pro or college football, etc), all the chatter and speculation impacts how these things are done. BY that I mean, I think many voters are cognizant of how the awards they are bestowing impact the legacy of the best players.
So yes, I think McDavid may have gotten some momentum in the voting because voters wanted to ensure that the best of this generation has a Conn Smythe trophy.
