OT: Around Hockey and the NHL

The NHL having the guy from Train in the compilation is nuts. Maybe Ovi loves Train, but when you're putting a collection of GOATs and GOAT adjacent together, 'guy from Train' does not typically make the list. Dave Coulier was the GOAT of Full House. He makes the cut.

It's cool he broke the record and all but stopping in the middle of the game for a ceremony was f***ing ridiculous. Shouldn't they be having the ceremony in DC?

Yeah. Or after the game. I also wonder about the logistics of it. What if he hadn’t scored #895 today? Would Bettman, Gretz etc continued to travel with the Caps with the painting, flowers, other presents and the crews until he eventually did it?

They'll almost definitely acknowledge it at the next home game, but this has been the plan for a while. Wait until he gets down to like 3 goals, and then he gets an entourage. Ovi's family was there, too.

895 is probably the highest profile record in the NHL. Pretty much anything else that could have happened in that game was going to be irrelevant. Stopping for a ceremony wouldn't be too much. It's a little weird that Ovi gave a speech and shook every Islander's hand during a stoppage in the second period on the Islanders home ice, but it is what it is. Ovi also doesn't take himself too seriously, so it ended up working.

The hockey team is pretty much the biggest game in town, so that should be advantageous in terms of NIL money.

Other than a bloodfest, who do we want tonight? No OT is a given. Do we want to bury the kitties or give ourselves a chance at 1st in division?
