Armchair GM Thread

Trotz needs to reach out to Oilers today about Saros. Win or lose the Cup they are a goalie away from great. Be interesting to see what they would offer if interested.
What I want from Edmonton (for Saros or otherwise) is as far out of a 1st as we can get. No depth, no youth, McDavid UFA after next year...I'd love to roll the dice that a 2028 or 2029 1st ends up very high.

Trade Saros to Edmonton or Buffalo for future considerations

Trade marchesseault for minor retention and whatever spare parts we can get

Trade ROR for real assets/picks/prospects

Trade Sissons for picks

LTIR Josi

sign Georgiev as our goalie 1x2.5

Sign Ekblad 6x7

sign Rossi 7x7

Sign DeAngelo 1x700k

Bring granlund back 1x6

Forsberg-Rossi-Granlund
Bunting-Stamkos-Kemmell
ZLH-Svech-Evangelista
Wiesblatt-Mccarron-Smith

Skjei- Ekblad
Molendyk-Barron
Layton- Deangelo
Stastny
Defense still gets torn apart

Not sure why granlund would willingly come back here seeing the condition of the team

Kemell getting 2nd line assignment isnt going to happen with Bruno. Same this with Rossi being 1C. Even if all the signings/trades happened you'd have 1C Stamkos 2C McCarron 3C Svech, Rossi to wing

I don't care about anything they do with any player as long as Brunette is still coach. Since they are keeping him, just bring everyone back and suck some more. This is insanity.

That being said, I am guessing ticket sales are not going very well. After a "meh" response from the Org to my non-renewal after 12 years, suddenly they are all over me. Being invited to draft parties, small cocktail gatherings, etc. I'm not going to any of that crap but the fact that my seats, which are awesome (lower bowl, center ice, between the benches, on the aisle), are still available cannot be a good sign. Those should have been snapped up immediately. Maybe enough of this is happening that someone will get their head out of their ass sooner than later. But, I highly doubt it. :help:

The Marchessault, Trotz, Brunette triangle is an interesting one. I'm not usually for the inmates running the asylum. In this case, I am. Marchessault wants to win. This falls in line with what Trotz "says" in public, signing guys who don't come here to retire. I get Trotz wanting to back his coach. Problem is, you're running off one of the few guys who shows any sort of emotion. and commitment to winning.

Trotz preached, we want to get the young guys on the ice yet we got large doses of McCarron, Smith and Jankowski before he was traded. Either he was lying or his coach went against what he was trying to do. That should be fireable in and of itself.

All of that to say, I think this is another failure of Trotz, picking the wrong guy to stand behind. You have a coach that needs an off season to grow and figure it out? Why was he not doing that during the disastrous season? It's not like him changing it up would've made it any worse.

I'm just hoping Trotz doesn't F up this draft. If he does, he and Bruno need to be shown the door ASAP and bring someone in with half a brain.

It leaves plenty of spots for younger guys to play bigger roles. :sarcasm:

I almost posted this morning the things I've heard but didn't because sometimes people get annoyed with me when things don't 100% happen according to rumors.

The Josi diagnosis supports what I've heard: there's massive concerns in the org that Josi won't be able to play at the level he has been. They aren't looking to trade him, but limiting minutes etc next year may be a really real thing. I haven't heard anything about retirement.

Marchy I have heard is getting traded. 100%. TOR and MTL are frontrunners.
I don't know why I'm surprised anymore on how thick some people are  Rumors are rumors, not facts. Just because something doesn't materialize doesn't mean the talks never happened.

In case I forget, I grant permission for any NHL team to contact Brunette about their open head coaching job. I guess maybe the Preds are supposed to grant permission but, just in case it’s me, I ok it.
