Didn't see we got a 4th. I get the cost of getting rid of Schenn was Novak. We get way younger on defense, a little older at forward and a LH shot.
Pittsburgh is doing their rebuild buy collecting all of our youngins that finished Hynes' last season. We just traded Schenn AND Novak for Bunting
Are you a PR rep for the team lolBummer that Novak regressed the past season and a half or so. I really wanted him to live up to the potential here. Glad Schenn is gone and I have a generally favorable view of Bunting. Weird trade but seems positive
With how scarce his minutes were, it's amazing he even touched a puck, let alone scored.Novak was by far our best G/60 player this season and 2nd best A/60. You dont get tons of points on the 3rd line getting 11 mins a game. His points regression is on coaching decisions
Malort ... because just buying that stuff is an indicator you don't want to live.If Barry turns around and trades for Marshand. I will need your help everybody just sitting on which liquor to commit suicide to.

Why are we trading garbage for garbage?I feel like there's a pretty big overreaction to this trade. Garbage in for garbage out. Novak for Bunting is pretty much a wash and I'm happy with Schenn for a 4th. Meh...![]()
Novak for a 1st? Can't imagine we'd get that for a 30ish point forward with another couple years at $3.5...but I guess you never know. I'm not saying it's a great trade, I'm just saying it's not terrible either. It's just confusing as far as what the desired outcome is. It would be great for Barry to have a presser to discuss what we're hoping to accomplish. Opening up spots for youth? Who knows. Why are we trading garbage for garbage?
More importantly, why are we trading Tommy Novak for not a 1st round pick which is what we could've gotten last year.
And most importantly why are we getting older up front? Again?
Novak had been a bit of a fantasy darling before this season, putting up pretty solid production with limited usage and PP time. Teams also ogled his league-minimum salary at the deadline and RFA retainability. It doesn't surprise me at all that he'd draw that kind of interest last year.Novak for a 1st? One reason may be playing style. Bunting is more of a net crasher which we currently have none of.It still doesn't make him any great shakes better than Bunting, mind you, as both are sort of patches who can contribute on non-competitive teams, but aren't ever going to be key players. The main difference is stylistic. Bruno will use Bunting more, so I expect we'll get a little more out of him than we were getting out of Novak, but that won't mean he's actually a better player.
