Bummer that Novak regressed the past season and a half or so. I really wanted him to live up to the potential here. Glad Schenn is gone and I have a generally favorable view of Bunting. Weird trade but seems positive

I could understand if Trotz were moving players he had nothing to do with signing. He extended Fabbro, Tomasino, Carrier, Parssinen, Novak between March and September of last year ... signed Schenn and Nyquist to their FA deals. ... then there are his buyouts and retentions on trades.

I don't see what Trotz is trying to do and the product on ice isn't working out.

At that point I want to die not suffer
Malort and seppuku while watching Bedard highlights.

On the plus side, Nhl Edge has bunting in tbe bottom half of the nhl for top skating speed BUT he is mid at getting speed burst in 20-22 mph.

At forward:
We got older
A little slower but he is ever so slightly faster than Nyquist
I expect Evangelista to never see top 6 time again

No clue what trotz is doin.... i should probably wait until the deadline is done

I feel like there's a pretty big overreaction to this trade. Garbage in for garbage out. Novak for Bunting is pretty much a wash and I'm happy with Schenn for a 4th. Meh... :dunno:

Our center depth is just pathetic. RoR, Stamkos, svechkov, Sissons, McCarron

That isnt anywhere near a contenders. Moving Novak for an even older forward when your forward group is already one of the oldest in the NHL is also dumb.

Still time to do something useful this deadline but this team is gonna be ugly next season unless we get big changes

Why are we trading garbage for garbage?

More importantly, why are we trading Tommy Novak for not a 1st round pick which is what we could've gotten last year.

And most importantly why are we getting older up front? Again?

Novak for a 1st? Can't imagine we'd get that for a 30ish point forward with another couple years at $3.5...but I guess you never know. I'm not saying it's a great trade, I'm just saying it's not terrible either. It's just confusing as far as what the desired outcome is. It would be great for Barry to have a presser to discuss what we're hoping to accomplish. Opening up spots for youth? Who knows.

Novak had been a bit of a fantasy darling before this season, putting up pretty solid production with limited usage and PP time. Teams also ogled his league-minimum salary at the deadline and RFA retainability. It doesn't surprise me at all that he'd draw that kind of interest last year.

I think you're focusing too much on this Bruno chaos season where he has bounced around so much and been shunted aside. I think the previous two seasons are the true measure of the player.

It still doesn't make him any great shakes better than Bunting, mind you, as both are sort of patches who can contribute on non-competitive teams, but aren't ever going to be key players. The main difference is stylistic. Bruno will use Bunting more, so I expect we'll get a little more out of him than we were getting out of Novak, but that won't mean he's actually a better player.

One reason may be playing style. Bunting is more of a net crasher which we currently have none of.

Overall, I do agree that Barry's lack of initial planning (Bruno, Carrier contract, not trading Novak last year....) is crushing this team. I guess after the Fabbro fail and keeping this idiot coach around, I'm saying that this trade shouldn't be the focus of our anger as it really wasn't that bad at all. It's the other fumbles.....
