People seem to be forgetting that Jiricek is a top-five pick from two years ago. He's only 20 and bigger defensemen like him usually take more time to develop. Also, that type of defensemen are far more valuable than smaller wingers.

Evangelista won't be anything more than a middle-six winger whose producion you can probably find and replace from the FA market every summer. At least with organization's ability to develop forwards. We might even get to see him on the waiver wire in two years if we're lucky enough.

To me the fact that Evangelista managed to break through and put a good season together last year despite how bad we've been at developing forwards tells me he's the one young forward we should actually hold onto. I'm convinced you put him with better linemates and a good coach and he's easily a 60 point player, which can be found in free agency but doesn't come cheap. I could be convinced to trade a prospect for Jiricek but Evangelista is not the guy I'm moving.

Nobody's forgetting that. The notion wouldn't even be entertained if not for his pedigree. His development has stalled and there are question marks around his willingness and buy-in to that process. I do not have any confidence in this organization being able to handle him correctly in maximizing on his potential.

Some interesting news from NY. I would be interested in bringing Trouba in and strengthening our right side defense. With his contract, the price should be cheap. Only this and next year left on the deal.

Obviously, we'd need to move some salary out and Carrier seems like a natural choice. Maybe Nyquist, too.

High cap hit but only into 2026. Jokes aside, he'd be the perfect partner for Josi
Obviously would have to see what the deal would be but I wouldn't hate it. Short-term deal left for Trouba. And like it or not (and believe me I don't), this team is in win-now mode for the next 3 years.

Schenn, Sissons or Nyquist before Carrier i think. You're trying to upgrade the right side, not move out the best RHD on the team

This is bullshit clickbait. They are 12-6-1. They aren't gonna trade their core after one bad loss.

I wonder if CBJ would do a Evangelista + TBL/VGK 1st for Jiricek..
Feedback on that is going to depend a lot on who you're talking to. Friedman's statement (and it matches Portzline's) is that if Jiricek gets traded the goal is a one-for-one.

I really like Evangelista, and I'm much more motivated to try to save him from the madness now given recent developments, but I don't think he's enough to justify a Jiricek trade from the Jackets' end.

Don't forget, also thinks he's owed an NHL roster spot and ice time despite not showing himself capable of it on one of the worst teams in the league.

You know how we love "character" here in Nashville though.
It's less that and more he wants consistency of role. He seemed fine with being in the AHL now rather than drifting through uncertainty between 10 minutes on ice and whole games in the press box at the NHL level. Not quite Askarov demanding level yet; still in the early stages.
