I’d like to keep Fantilli at C. Keep him on his developmental path. I feel like taking Monahan off center and putting him on the wing would alleviate his C responsibilities to hopefully allow him to do more?

Would think Fantilli, Larkin, and Coyle is very strong C depth. I think Larkin is a good player but I dont believe he’s a true 1C. Let Fantilli continue to learn as he’s young.

easy. monahan’s the 4C, plays higher if there are injuries, and his line acts as an intro point for guys like pinelli to play an offensive game in sheltered minutes.

coyle and larkin anchor the two matchup lines.

If Waddell actually did a Fantilli offer, I’d be livid. I can’t believe I just read an article of “it makes sense” because it assures we keep Werenski around.

There is a reason people on the internet aren't actually allowed to do trades outside of a video game.
I think we are in the range of a solid roster player, a high prospect and the '26 1st round.

I think that holds true if he has a very limited list of places he's willing to waive. If we are truly in win sooner rather than later mode. This should be a no brainer from our end.

That whole trade thread is drunk now...they are nowhere going to get what they think they are. Detroits going to get 3-4 good prospects but they aint getting 1/2OA, Fantilli or the entire farm. There's going to be like 5-6 teams in this bidding contest and none of them are going to be Canadian nor Atlantic conference and out West there are about only 4 serious contenders that can make it work and 2 of them are about the same level as CBJ right now.

Basically I see its Wild (I personally think they are the hard favorite if they can make the moves), Vegas, US, New Jersey, LA Kings, maybe Carolina and maybe Ducks. We have the need (well really its a top 6 winger but still counts), the cap and the connections to make it happen. The thing though is do we have the true assets and I think we do.

If Larkin gives a list and it's like CBJ, Minnesota, and Vegas, then I could see us winning the bidding there. We've got more prospect assets and don't need to dump cap. Minnesota would move every prospect to get him but they don't have much left after the Jiricek and Hughes deals. Wallstedt isn't a need for goalie rich Detroit.

The Devils could certainly make a big offer, especially if they're moving Hischier (for Larkin or separately). But Larkin has more connection with the CBJ and the Devils are floundering.

The Kings are also floundering.

The Ducks are on the rise and I could see that being a good trade spot if Larkin wants to go there, but I have no idea if he's interested in that.

Carolina could swing it and that would make a lot of sense. We ought to hope that Carolina and Anaheim aren't on his list.

I think a lot of stupid things have happened to this team and horrible decisions have been made too many times, it’s also fine for this fan base to have a bit of concern that things will be handled correctly.

NJ is kind of F'd with NTC clauses all over their roster. IF they feel like they won't be able to resign Hischier then maybe they could do something around Hischier and Nemec.

NJ is going to need some time to fix their locker room to be a place he'd waive to go IMO. Thy just had so much talent that under achieved last year. Columbus seems to be a much more positive situation for the coming year.

I dont know if I understand the 1 for 1 trades some Wings fans are hoping for. They are another team that lacks top end talent and the potential moves they could make there put them pretty much back in the same position they are now.

Im just enjoying the fact this has come around the other way and is actually a player we could use along with Waddell itching to make a big trade :laugh:

Alot of it is cope thinking they are magically going to get a younger version of what they need (ie the Fantilli) except really they are going to get 3-4 solid prospects for him.

This is why you don't hand out NMC like Halloween candy. If this was a 10-15 team no trade clause thing we wouldn't even be having this discussion here in Columbus.

There are Wings fans here saying the same thing you are, that this ought to force a rebuild. But ask yourself what is likely for a GM this deep into his tenure. Is he going to start a rebuild now?

And to be honest, the Wings keep missing the playoffs mostly because their pro scouting is abysmal. They've got a good top 5 man unit, it's after that where their pro scouting has failed to support them. It honestly doesn't look unfixable to me.

They have a pretty good prospect pool I think, I feel like he could make some decent trades if he was willing to part with some of them.

Honestly I think an average GM vs Yzerman in Detroit is not the same thing. I think he has a leash a normal GM does not have. I also believe hes a patient individual, patient to a fault and its going to cost him.

Is the pro scouting concern even new for Yzerman? Memory could fail me but I dont remember it being great in Tampa either but some draft finds after the 1st like Point/Kuch absolutely saved them along with the top picks they had. Hes kind of been helped out by Debrincat wanting to be there in Detroit and Kane following him but still not filling out the roster behind them.

I dont think hes built a playoff style team and even if they make it I dont think there is much fear they'd do a lot with the opportunity. They certainly have some good individual pieces but hes almost another Jarmo where he doesnt actually put all the pieces together to make a complete team. Take Larkin away and where is any sort of center depth?
