yeah this particular one is really funny when you think about it for more than a second

“trade in place but making sure he has room for the RFAs” but the trade in place means the jackets reduce their overall cap hit since wood + voronkov = 6.7m and debrusk makes 5.5
If we aren't moving Vronk to NYI, we aren't moving him for Debrusk

I'm not talking about trading Voronkov for DeBrusk specifically, but they might be more willing to move Voronkov now that Bones is here and he didnt like to play Voronkov one bit. Plus Waddell has said that they want to make the team faster, and they have, but moving Voronkov would continue that trend.

If we can exchange Voronkov for LeBrusk, I think we become a much better team. Face it, Voronkov is done here. While I like him he does not fit in what Bones is trying to do. Furthermore, I do not trust our current second line forward combination of KJ and Garlund. DeBrusk would put pressure on them and, at a minimum add additional talent o our 3rd line.He would make us a much better and deeper team IMHO.

I still don't understand where this Vronk is done here comes from...he's been working on cardio as the team has asked...if he comes in better there, plus his 20 to 25g upside, that's a win and a much heavier player than Debrusk...he's still growing into the player we hope for, while Debrusk is what he is...

If Voronkov and/or KJ doesn't start the season strong, then it's time to move either/both of them while they still have a modicum of trade value.

At some point an organization has to draw the line on them. "Potential" is a nice concept. The problem is that it has a shelf life. Voronkov's and KJ's "potential" is bumping up on their CBJ expiration dates.

If Monahan and Garland play as crappy as they did last season and the above two players don't show some serious positive strides, then it's probably "blow it up" time. The prospect pool is nothing to write home about and Z and Marchenko both probably want out so what other option would their be?

If it comes to this, GMDW can't be the guy to do the rebuild. Too old and too indecisive.

I don't think they'll give up on him without seeing Bones work with him more. DW is confirmed to be very high on him. This year will be make or break though for sure.

If Voronkov starts the season strong, trade him. He has started the season strong every year and people think he has figured it out — and then he disappears. I 100% expect a good start to the season and I 200% expect a crappy end to the season. So trade his ass in December.

well yeah, that too.

my point is that “oh they’re waiting until the RFAs sign to see if they have room for debrusk” and then floating a trade where the jackets send out more salary than they take undermines the whole point they’re making about why the trade supposedly hasn’t been done yet

even as speculation goes it’s illogical lol

Hesitant to post this, but this account is followed by some prominent people in hockey.

Kirill Marchenko is expected to be traded by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the near future, according to a source close to the Russian forward, even as talks appear to be picking back up after a summer of mixed signals.

RG.org has learned that the Blue Jackets and another team are finalizing the terms of a trade, and Marchenko's camp knows the talks are ongoing.

"Kirill is essentially between two teams right now," a source close to the player told RG.org. "The parties are now negotiating the terms of the trade."

Waddell isn’t going to trade him if it makes us worse. If he finds a good trade, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

> Speaking on The Starr & D'Amico Show, RG.org's Marco D'Amico said Montreal…..

Important to know this is a Montreal beat writer though.

I still don’t really understand what happened here, unless it really is a Bob situation where he got upset about taking blame for missing the playoffs.

But if a trade has been inevitable since before the draft, it’s very annoying to me that whatever futures we get will now be delayed a year.

We have his rights for two more years. I just really don’t see Waddell trading him for futures.

Edit: I just listened to the episode, it basically said that Waddell would be asking for Slafkovsky in return. You know what? If he can figure out a trade like that, 👋 Marchenko.

There are very few trades for players of his caliber with zero future picks involved. Obviously it shouldn’t/won’t be all futures but whatever futures are included are now delayed a year.
Sure, but he’s definitely getting roster players back. This trade isn’t just going to be for a bunch of picks.

Sounds like someone really got his feelings hurt by Rick Bowness.

And Voronkov is useless without Marchenko. I think he would be very unmotivated to playing without his fellow Russian he enjoyed playing with so much. Well if Bones was looking to shake things up, it appears he did.

Benching or burying Vronk down the stretch and playing Silly and Lindy on the first line would have had me thinking to NOT to bring Bones back. Team can’t score. Let’s play those 2 in a more prominent role and bench the guy who could score 20 a year. Hope Vogs gets promoted, he just gets an under talented Cleveland team in the playoffs every year.

Portzline was saying Voronkov couldn’t even physically finish his shifts.

Do we just throw our hands up and do something around Marchenko for Larkin?

I'd rather that than a bunch of futures...
Larkin has to want to be here, and marchenko has to want to extend there.

So probably not.
