OK, I'm on the hype train now
Who is out there that is still useful, but overpaid? We could take a salary dump, gain a good pick, and still improve the team.
Guessing we could shore up C/D/G
If we're missing out on a top 10 pick, I would love to see us finish ahead of NJ

I wonder what the plus could be requested from Ottawa on a Chabot - Weegar based trade. I wonder would it be worth it?

Sens clear cap long term, get better player who plays both sides and local boy who can mentor the young talent Ottawa has. Weegar slots where Chabot currently is at LD.

Flames downgrade and loose flexibility of what playing RD but receive a passable and younger top pairing work horse in return. Assume Ras stays, same draft as Ras and rumors are we would have drafted Chabot if we didn't trade for Hamilton.

Would we ask for futures as the main basis of the plus? Or is there a roster player swap that might make sense?

I wonder what it would take to land Kirby Dach. I feel like we are actually good trading partners with Montreal, they have way too many forwards and we have cap space to take on a bad contract or two in order to get some value.

Something like Dach+Josh Anderson for Vladar+2nd+Pelletier or D prospect? Is that insulting to Montreal? Then we ship Kuznemko out for whatever late pick we could get (or even maybe scratch him) and go with some combination of:

Sharan-Backs-Coronato
Zary-Dach-Coleman
Hubes-Kadri-Anderson

It would be a very cheap way to add a decent young RHC and Anderson only has two years left. Dach is from Alberta also. Montreal may not wanna sell low on Dach though

I've been a long time fan of Chabot, but I think he's a guy that probably excels long term as a great #3 behind a solid top pairing, than a genuine top pairing guy.

Maybe he flourishes outside of Ottawa a bit more, but I've been left wanting more for forever and a day as a part time Sens fan.

I think there's some merit in the idea of trading Vets for younger, upside style players. I just think from a lockerroom standpoint I'd be tempted to keep Weegs. But depends on the offer from Ottawa on the plus.

Chabot has been kinda run into the ground in Ottawa though. Kinda like Nurse and Risto but not as bad.

I'm expecting a 3 like you said, but I'm also thinking maybe if he doesn't have to run heavy minutes and playing in a better defensive structure under Huska, he will be a more solid 2/3 across from Andersson and that minor upside would be a nice sweetener.

Valid point on the lockerroom stuff from Weegs, but I feel like we're not lacking in that department either.

Could be a win win trade and not derail this Cinderella run?

Before the season, I predicted that Huberdeau and Kadri would struggle to be PPG when you add their points together.

So far they’re both at 12p (24 total) in 23gp.

Not looking good
