Was he lying though? As far as he knew it was, which is exactly why he’s stated it won’t happen again.
It's not a lie, it's his mouth needlessly getting him into trouble. I personally feel that he lost negotiating leverage in negotiations being Mr. High and Mighty about pending UFAs at his press conference.

Our players will be worth way more at the deadline. GMs go mental at the deadline. It would have been nice to get some 2023 picks because it was such a talented draft, but Button always seems to find guys regardless of the draft year.

Vladar can likely be moved if another team gets an injury in goal.
Tanev and Backlund will be highly sought after at the deadline.
Hanifin is likely gone at some point this off-season.
Zadorov is likely signed long term (5x5 would be my guess)
Lindholm will have a boatload of suitors if he doesn’t sign.

There’s a lot of talent in this organization still, we have the makings of a solid D core and solid goaltending despite all the changes. I’m not too worried about things like a lot of people are.

I feel like I'm in the same boat as you.
I look at this website and Twitter and you'd think the Flames were in Flyer's territory.

God I hope we don't bring Zad back. Especially given at the deadline he will be worth a lot to a contender

I'd love to give Zadina a shot, could be a great linemate for Hubby if he can find his groove again
Take a flyer on him...he's a UFA now after mutually terminating contract. Although even with the league minimum, that pushes the Flames right up against the cap with no wiggle room for now.

The issue with waiting until the deadline is the risk of injury or the team surprising and having a good season. If the flames are first in the pacific do we really trade lindholm if he’s refusing to sign? Ditto hanifin and others?

The longer this drags the more uneasy I feel. If we get into training camp with these guys still on the team than the flames have made their bed and chanced things working out to fate.

On the flip side of your getting offered a bad deal for Hanifin or Lindholm are you really just going to take it?

I’d love to send a guy to Ohio and get their 2024 1st. They’re going to be a clownshow this year with Babcock

If the Flames, come February, are in a playoff spot do you really see upper management and ownership agreeing to selling off players like Lindholm if they still are with the team? I don't.Better to get a poor deal in the summer than no deal at the TDL because ownership wants that playoff spot. I know that sucks but if we continue with our current roster the Flames have a good chance of being a playoff team.
