I don't have a good answer as to why, I just really don't want to trade Tyson Jost. I think he's a much better player than most Avs fans do, it just doesn't translate to the scoreboard very well

He's a regular healthy scratch, forget his feelings lol. The day we pass on a trade out of respect for a guy not even drawing into the lineup is the day I find a new team
Avs probably won't trade him at the moment they need the defense incase of injuries

Agreed on your 2nd point. On your 1st point, I can see where you’re coming from, but it’s Phil Kessel. He’s going to help you more this season. And the Avs should be going for it right now. Breaking eggs to make omelets and all that.

Capobianco does strike me as a more appropriate “in case of injury” guy to healthy scratch frequently than does Ryan Murray.
Murray has played 11 of the Avs' 12 games...so he's objectively not a frequent healthy scratch, regardless of what someone else said. The Avs signed him for a purpose -- it's not like they've made significant additions to the defense since they added him. I think the Avs have only played one or two periods this entire season in which all of Makar/Girard/Byram/EJ/Toews have been healthy, and miraculously EJ, who is typically the most injured of that group and is good for at least one injury a year, has yet to be injured. So, there will always be room for a good bottom pairing defenseman in Colorado who can play up the lineup. That's Murray, not Capobianco.

Yeah. Murray is off the table. That’s a solid player with good cap hit on short term deal. Plays PK and moves the puck pretty well. Avs are lucky to have him. Most teams don’t have 3rd pair defenders as good as him. You win with guys like that down your lineup.

Arizona is just bleeding high quality chances against and they have extremely inconsistent and overall very weak goaltending to boot. It’s a compounding issue. They’re just getting absolutely rocked every game.

Obviously they have no talent and can’t score. That’s also a problem. But it’s harder and more expensive to solve that. They need to at least become harder to score against to keep these games somewhat closer.

They can’t be bad at EVERYTHING. They need to at least find a center who can play solid, defensive hockey, and a couple of defenseman that aren’t train wrecks in their own zone and can clear the puck out. And get another goalie that can at least be slightly below average at an NHL level.

If we can’t get Ryan Murray in this deal, then getting Jost and a 3rd at least gives us a chance to trade a 2nd for a goalie. Someone like Khudobin when Bishop is ready to return. Kessel and a 2nd for Jost, Khudobin, and a 3rd, would really help this team not lose 70+ games this season.

The Coyotes are on a 16pt pace. They need to be on at least a 56pt pace the rest of the season. Or Tourigny will get tuned out, Chychrun will demand a trade, guys like Keller and Crouse will lose the big progress they have showed early this season, and the young call ups like Hayton, Jenik, McCartney, and Soderstrom will get the stink of losing all over them.

It was right and good for the Coyotes to try to be the worst team in the NHL this season. It is a huge catastrophe to accidentally end up the worst team in history. That’s a problem. It’s not a plan.

The 3rd + Jost for Kessel seems fair enough.

I just dont think Col tinkers with Kadris line right now. They've been fire so far. Having Kessel on the 3rd line + PP2 and being able to move up to 2nd line is a great get though.

Would love to see this deal happen for Phil's sake
