Are the Winnipeg Jets a one line team?

absolutely. folks are forgetting how easily Ehlers is shut down when the hockey gets hard. he's already past his peak and only has 4 goals and 10 assists in 37 playoff games. huge reason why Winnipeg have the label that they do. 2nd lines hopes are riding on Namestnikov, who is a below average contending 2C, and a talented but small Perfetti.

they go as far as Helle wants.
Same is true for any team in the playoffs, including Edmonton and Skinner - and for that matter, any team and their franchise player

People seem to be forgetting (or just don't know enough about the Jets) that they're 2nd league in goals scored

"If their goalie sucks and their powerplay goes cold and a team shuts down their top line, they don't go anywhere in the playoffs" - a statement that's true for every one of the 16 goddamn teams that make it in

I think the jets will be eliminated in the first round again.

They have a one line team. If you shutdown the schifele-connor-vilardi line, you can win the game (series).

Ehlers can be shutdown also.

The jets also don't have additional scoring coming from the 6 bottom lines that can pick up the slack if the SCV line fails to score.
which is it

a 1 line team or

a 1 line + 1/3 of a line team ?

Just my two cents....

WPG seems to rely heavily on ghe top line and its PP.

A cold streak will kill them in the playoffs. That's true with many teams over the years where they ride hit PP/ hot goalie

So many haters want to say it’s all Hellebyuck taking them to 1st place. None of them want to give him the Hart.

Indeed. Interesting observation old chum.

Guys make threads like this so they can drag it up if we get knocked out in the 1st round and pat themselves on the back like their a genius

I said this before 2 of Winnipeg/Colorado/Dallas are going to be gone by the Conference final. 2 of those teams will see a ton of media trying to figure out what went wrong and what they should have done and why they should fire the GM/Coach and/or trade their core players out. So whatever Winnipeg is dammed if they do and dammed if they don't and who gives a crap what some mutt on a board thinks. We love our team and were tired of all the jealousy we seem to get for a team that is the worst destination to play in for any player.

How about you all just fook off and leave us to cold little city and let us enjoy our potential President's Trophy

Jets currently have 237 goals #2 in the league

top line accounts for a total of 98 goals
#55- 35
#81- 36
#13- 27

237-98= 139 139/237=0.58649

So almost 60% of goals scored have been by players other than the top line.......

what are we talking about?
They've also give up the least goals. I'm not sure how someone can see the team with the second most goals and least goals conceded as a one line team. The bottom 6 might not be the flashiest guys but they shut down other teams top lines consistently. Something that many other top teams struggle to do with their bottom 6. It's not all Hellebuyck standing on his head. Many games the opposing teams don't get many quality chances on hellebuyck. Case in point the dallas game

Jets don't have a clear 2nd line. Lowry's line actually plays more than Namestnikov's line, and dominates 5v5 matchups in goals and chances. Namestnikov's line as 2/3 line also dominates opposition in goals and chances. So, in essence the Jets run a very strong middle-6 with Lowry going head to head with top opponents and Namestnikov's line playing a very strong possession and transition game.

Jets 4th line has also been a huge strength, with size, speed and smarts.

Yes, the Jets have a very good top scoring line, but the real strength of their team lies in their depth, particularly how they beat their matchups with really strong two-way play.

...evidently Hellebuyck is twice as good behind the 2nd and 3rd lines than he is behind the 1st line.
Always has been lol

Wouldn't he technically be half as bad?

To be clear, I was comparing those three lines' GF/60 vs the rest of the league whereas you're comparing the 2nd and 3rd lines' GA/60 to the 1st line's GA/60. That's a different conversation

The Jets could have the most underrated defense in the NHL.

Morrissey
Samberg
Poink
Demelo

All very underrated. It wasn't until two seasons ago that people saw just how good Josh Morrissey is.

Meh, for a lot of haters have the Jets in a Cup or bust situation after predicting them to miss the playoffs this year. They're only 1st place in the league and +81 goal differential, what else do they have? Sportsnet will cancel their hockey contract next year if the Jet win the Cup and Gadzdic will still, pick them to miss the playoffs next year. I welcome that kind of respect. Hope the Jets shove it down their throats.
Yeah Gadzic still can't get over this:
