Are the Winnipeg Jets a one line team?

I think the jets will be eliminated in the first round again.

They have a one line team. If you shutdown the schifele-connor-vilardi line, you can win the game (series).

Ehlers can be shutdown also.

The jets also don't have additional scoring coming from the 6 bottom lines that can pick up the slack if the SCV line fails to score.

Accurate. Our bottom-most 3 lines of those 6 bottom lines have been complete no-shows in most games. But we're the only team in the league that's allowed to dress 21 forwards, which I feel will be a plus in a physical playoff series.

I don't think they'll be eliminated in round 1.

But their lack of secondary offense at 5v5 does worry me. Luckily the PP doesn't suck this year, and Prickfetti is continuing to trend up.

I’m not convinced the Jets will lose in the first round. They’ll very likely win the Central Division and get to face one of the wild card teams. The western conference wild card race is a bunch of tortoises attempting to crawl across the finish line.

On the other hand, assuming they win in the first round, that means most likely facing one of Colorado or Dallas in the second round… and that’ll be a very tough matchup for them.

It's funny you say this because if you look at the other contending teams the Jets are getting equal/better scoring from their second and third lines then all the western teams:

We are getting significantly better scoring then Edmonton and Colorado. We are better then Vegas and comparable LA and slightly worse then Dallas now that they have Rantanen.

So if we have a depth issue then so does every western contender save Dallas

Even though the Jets had a great regular season last year, they look much improved this season. Their structure and defense are definitely tighter, I think they will be a tough out this year.

Round 1 should be easier as they'll probably get the bottom WC team (CGY/VAN/UTA).
If they win, they'll have to play COL/DAL in Round 2, which should be much more difficult. Guess we'll see.

I will say this: The Jets will go as far as Hellebuyck takes them. If he is in peak from and can steal us a handful of games, they will be tough to beat.

All proven playoff performers.

No that guy is wrong.
I mean, no one on the Jets is a proven playoff performer, except for arguably Scheifele. The last time we went deep in the playoffs, our best players other than Scheifele were Byfuglien, Wheeler, Trouba, Stastny, and Hellebuyck. Only one of those is still on the team. Three have retired.

If the question is if the Jets' players need to perform better than they historically have in the playoffs to go for this year, the answer is unequivocally yes.

Wasn’t it the WCF against the Knights that gave us that awesome GIF of Byfuglien grabbing two Knights players at once and dragging them away from a post-whistle scrum by himself?

I mean it depends on which Helly shows up this playoffs.

The one that showed up round 1 last year was not on the same level as his regular season counterpart.
Hopefully last year was an anomaly. I keep pointing out that the Vegas buzz saw went through every goalie they faced during their cup run like they were a hot knife against butter. Hellebuyck had the highest save percentage against Vegas of any goalie they faced, and he rocked a .886.

Last year was considerably worse. He looked off on the shots he saw, the team defense did they best to work together with Avs players to screen him on most other shots, and they allowed a boatload of high danger scoring chances.

Yup, everyone needs to step up once the playoffs start. If they go out it will be due to that not that we don't have enough depth.

They will be come playoff time. We all know Ehlers turns into Casper the ghost at this time of year. Always a complete no show in the playoffs.

That's why they should have tried to pick up Rantanen.

I think that was vs the Preds a few years ago. An iconic moment for the big fella. :)

EDIT: Hang on - @Summer Rose

You are correct!
