Are the stars aligning for Stanley's return to its homeland?

Toronto born Leafs fan. If we don't win it, I want another Canadian team to win it before another non traditional American team. It's been over 30 years. This sentiment that it doesn't matter are the same people who work for foreign owned companies in Canada but wonder why the economy is weak.

I dont trust WPGs goaltending, and the Leafs core players didnt show much more than they usually do in April, so I think Dallas, Florida, and Vegas will be taking the cup home this year.

Maybe it’s because I’m not Canadian I find this sentiment strange. I have a hard time seeing a Montreal fan celebrating because Toronto wins won the cup or vice versa. Ditto for Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. In other sports if a team from my state wins the championship that isn’t my city and team I don’t care. If it’s not my team I don’t want anyone else to win. There are some teams I pull mildly for but that’s just because my stronger dislike of other teams
I really disagree with this sentiment on a broader scale, yes, you're all right because this forum is dominated by fans who are fans of those teams. But the general population isn't as hockey focused as fans on this board and will jump on the bandwagon, game 7 last year featured oilers/panthers and had an extremely high viewership rating in Canada and in NA at 16.6M. I think the diehards may not cheer, but if a team gets to round three we'll start to see viewership spike again.

That's the way most Canadians view it, they don't want Toronto winning if they're a Habs fan, that sort of thing. But it's also been decades now without a Cup north of the border and many will be relieved when that ends.

As of now Dallas and Florida are clear favourites in my eyes.
Dallas is an interesting case. They deserve a lot of credit for that comeback but for the majority of the game they looked defeated.

One thing I've noticed about them over the years is they always take that critical game off (usually game 7) that ends up costing them the series. Last year it was game 5 against the Oilers.

I do think they're the best team remaining in the West but they can't keep taking games off and expect a good result.

usually game 7
Deboer is undefeated in game 7, so unless you're referring to Dallas pre-Deboer, wouldn't say that's quite accurate. But yes they have their own flaws as well, especially if Heiskanen doesn't come back soon that D can be exploited a bit. There really is no 'perfect' team, each team is lacking something somewhere.

Start of the season Canadian teams made up 21.9% of the teams.
At the start of the playoffs Canadian teams made up 31.3%.
Start of round two they make up 37.5%

Trending in the right direction. If you're in to that kind of thing.

I’ve been reading some interesting articles about the logic of “at what point does the origin of X become insignificant if it has been Y for a lot longer than it has been X.

I think you can make a very convincing argument that the cup belongs to the US.
