Not a jets fan, but based on what measuring stick?Any team that is 17-3 after 20 games is lucky. Doesn't mean they're not good or even great, but no team gets to 17-3 without some luck. Top 5 team for me though.
Do I consider them top 5? Standings and watching, their underlying stats aren't incredible but they've had a lot of teams playing from behind against them and score effects happen. Not a jets fan, but based on what measuring stick?
Lucky though? No. They have earned this.Do I consider them top 5? Standings and watching, their underlying stats aren't incredible but they've had a lot of teams playing from behind against them and score effects happen.
As a Jet fan this is a fair take. The Jets have blown it the last two PO's series they played.“Wait until April, they probably lose first round in 5 games.”

They have, but if they go less than 17-3 in the next 20 games would you say they're underperforming? You need luck to go 17-3. You also need to be really good to be lucky enough to go 17-3.Lucky though? No. They have earned this.
Perhaps. It depends on how it looks. The thread was asking about what they have done and I’ve provided a perspective. To comment on what might happen in the next 20 and whether it’s this or that? That’s a game of folly. They have, but if they go less than 17-3 in the next 20 games would you say they're underperforming? You need luck to go 17-3. Fair enough, they've looked great and I'm incredibly excited to be a Jets fan right now. Like I said, you definitely have to be good to get to a record like 17-3, but if they played exactly as well for the next 20 games I wouldn't expect them to repeat that record.Perhaps. I was watching hockey when Bobby Hull played in the WHA (actually when he played in Chicago). I’ve always had a big soft spot for the Jets. My avatar is probably a giveaway. I hope sometime soon they go deep in the playoffs and maybe even….well you know.Fair enough, they've looked great and I'm incredibly excited to be a Jets fan right now. When you say Jets , do you mean Senators? The Jets are total frauds, nothing to see here. Move along please.
Jets have good metrics when you factor score and venue.Do I consider them top 5? Standings and watching, their underlying stats aren't incredible but they've had a lot of teams playing from behind against them and score effects happen.
Does that matter this year though really? Every season is different and anything can happen. People put way too much stock into previous seasons. The Blues were year in year out disappointments in the playoffs before they won a cup. It's completely unreasonable and illogical to say that because of last year this year will be exactly the same.As a Jet fan this is a fair take. The Jets have blown it the last two PO's series they played.
Are the Jets the Leafs 2.0?
Maybe.
Until they make it to the SC final and win they like Toronto are pretenders not contenders.
I'll keep saying this in every thread until people stop repeating it: the 1st overall seed in the Western Conference beating the 2nd wild card team is not unexpected. Even if we ignore hindsight which saw the 1st overall seed in the Western Conference lose only 6 games in the playoffs en route to a championship. As a Jet fan this is a fair take.
