Are the Jets for real or are they going to crash and burn?

georgive give up a lot of 957 streaks? because that was his save percentage over the last 4 games.

shots on goal were closer than you think. FO wins, hits, etc the jets were better than you remember.

and yes helle flopped.

but what’s more likely.

a team that swept the avs and scored 114 points, last year and current combined regular season record of 70- 28 were challenged by a super star nhl roster and gave up more than they wanted , WHILE a goalie went on the run of his life….

or that the Jets suck?
My man, I am as big a die hard Jets fan as they come. Have been my entire 45 year old life. They were completely destroyed vs the Avs last playoffs. I’m talking taken behind the wood shed and utterly humiliated bad. The Avs scored at will, and anytime the Jets got within a goal or two, they would come marching down the ice, shot and score. It was like a cat toying with a mouse before it eats it for lunch. Saying otherwise is just silly.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to be insulting with what I've said. Jets are clearly a top team in the NHL, and there is plenty of evidence supporting that. Beyond that, they're probably the team I least despise in the central. Never really had many quarrels with Jets fans.

I just hope, for your sake, that the Jets aren't nearly this dismissive of reality. They had a lot of tangible things they needed to change in their approach to that series, and suggesting that it was just an unavoidable fluke is not a great way to try and improve - nor is it a great way to make yourself feel better about it going forward.

I've been a jets fan for 42 years and I was a leafs fan as a kid living in in S/Ont a decade + before that. What's your point? Who is older and seen more hockey games? It's me.

The jets were in those games..yes they were not playing great, and Helle wasn't great....but the Jets just couldn't score.

Georgiecve posted a .957 Sv% over those last 4 games. That is a fact. If he plays his normal .907 the jets score more and those games are a lot closer.

You can argue it all you want, but aside from the games the Avs had significantly more PP time? the SOG time in Ozone, is not a huge blowout. nor was F/O Hits or Blocks Give Aways Take Aways...

i have repeatedly said the Jets gave up Waaaaay tooo much, didn't play well, and I have repeatedly said Helle wasn't up to snuff.... so I don't get where you would ever think i said "it was just an unavoidable fluke"

But the fact is the Avs goaltender with career .907 SV% played .957 over the last 4 games. a feat he hasn't repeated before or since. and the minute he faded? the Avs were out just as fast as the Jets were. and where is Georgieve now? this year? 14 gp . 7 wins 3.26 GAA and an .875 SV%

pretending the jets were floppy children playing against men who overpowered them every minute of every shift, and the Jets will never be a playoff team because of that? That is no more real than the straman "fluke" you present as my argument.

lets look at game 2...Jets had 30 SOG Avs had 32. Jets won FO, tied hits, had more blocked shots, fewer giveaways and about the same take aways(4-2)

Georgieve plays his usual game and the Jets win. then they are up 2-0 in the series....then who knows..

My point is that as much as it hurts me to say the Jets got hammered, it is true. I am usually a homer and tend to make excuses for the Jets at times, but in this case it is impossible to do so. Anyone who watched the series could see the Avs were the far superior team.

You keep talking about shot blocks. Do you realize the reason the Jets had so many was because Colorado possessed the puck in the Jets zone for a huge majority of the series. Kind of hard to block the puck when your team has the puck, no? All that stat tells you is that Colorado controlled the play, and hemmed the Jets in, forcing them to have to block shots.

You keep mentioning the power play goals Colorado had. Reason for that is the Jets had to take penalties to try to slow the Avs down. A huge majority of penalties are taken by the team chasing the puck, not the team that possess it.

As for take aways, Colorado usually had the puck. Kind of had to take away a puck they already control. So of course the Jets had a lot. They were given many more opportunities to do so. , while the Avs basically played keep away.

Same for give aways. The fact they were close speaks volumes. Colorado had the puck roughly 75% of the time, Jets 25%. Given that context, you would think the team who had the puck for 3/4 the game would have a lot more give aways than the team who only had it for 1/4, no?

After the 1st game I’m not sure if there was more than 10 minutes where the Avs were not playing with the lead. Any time the Jets even got close, the Avs would score again almost at will. I cannot recall a series that I have ever seen where it was more one sided.

At no point after game 1 was Colorado ever worried that they may blow a lead or lose the game. It was literally men playing against boys. And as a life long Jets fan it was hard to watch.

so..your argument is your fuzzy memories vs my hard facts... tell you what. go read the stats, then come back and we can talk.

Are they the below 500 team they have been during this horrific road trip or closer to the top scoring top defending team in the league they were the first 20 games?

Probably somewhere in between.

Nothing matters until the playoffs anyway. Have to wash that stink away.

They will end up playing 14 games in a row where they have to travel between every game. And this isn't east coast travel. I'll forgive them for losing hard fought games to LV and Dallas.

the jets skid has way more to do with the schedule then the teams it's played despite what one person who probably has only watched 1 jet game all season seems to think
