Are the Jets for real or are they going to crash and burn?

I’ll preface by saying that I actually like the Jets and I hope they will succeed.

But holy crap is this not the same song and dance we’ve seen the past two seasons? IIRC in 22-23 they were first in the west until January, looked absolutely dominant and they ended up in the 2nd WC spot, clinching a spot in the last game or two of the regular season.

Then last year they were setting all kinds of defensive records, allowing 2 or less goals in god knows how many games in a row. Only for them to get their asses blasted (pardon my French) by the Colorado Avalanche in 5 (where they let in 5 or more goals each game, an NHL record).

Is that why no one is talking about their ridiculous 12-1 start to the season? How is the Jets fanbase feeling about them this year? What about fans of other central division teams? I thought Scott Arniel was an underwhelming hire, but they’re doing well.

Is something different about them this year? Or will it be the same song and dance come crunch time?

Until they win in the POs they are pretenders.
The win against the Avs tonight was all on Hellebuyck.
Avs were the better team yet the Jets won.
Now if Hellebuych plays like this in the POs...?
Until then they are not to be taken seriously.

They’re obviously not this good but they play good, structured hockey while having some really good players on offense. Oh and the hellybuck guy doesn’t hurt either. I don’t know that Connor/Schuefele/Morrisey combo at this point is good enough to win a cup tho.

Overachieving for sure. History has shown that going all out in the regular season isn't the best strategy and peaking too early is also a problem. Ehlers is having a career year, but again a pending UFA and its funny how this always happens.

They crash and burn most playoffs... So I'd probably lean with that. Their best players often don't show up come playoff time, especially helley lately.

Pleasantly surprising, and regardless impressive.
I don’t think a fatal crash is coming but it will certainly not continue at this clip.
lol I hated the Arniel hire and Comrie signing
Good thing I don’t make organizational decisions

They will obviously come back down to earth.....and to be honest I still wouldn't put them with the top teams yet.....they need to prove this over the whole season and finally do something in the playoffs.....
While they need to do something in the playoffs absolutely.
They have lost 1 regular season game since April 1….

They're legit imo. We'll see how things progress but for now Winnipeg, Vegas and Dallas are the top 3 cup contenders in the west, with Edmonton and Vancouver slightly behind.

I feel most posters on here have not actually watched a Jets game. Yes they are not going to maintain this pace but the way they are playing right not does not suggest that there will be a major crash. Even if they lose 3-4 in a row they are still 13-5.

Most Jets fans on our board are obviously very happy with the start (although is seems to be devastating for our traditional negative posters and the tank nation crew :sarcasm:).

Some reasons why Jets fans have not started threads on the main board about the hot start yet might be, its still early November, Jets fans understand we have sucked in the playoffs all but one season and that is where any main board thread will end up. It’s an understandable reaction since it’s accurate so not much need poke the main board hornets nest.

The vast majority of posters on our board seem to be enjoying the ride while it lasts but we have long season ahead of us and a tougher schedule coming up this month.

personally I am not trying to get ahead of myself on this.

hard to say, they have the talent but historically they flop in the playoffs. it feels like they are in for a big year but we've been here before.
