MoneyPuck is giving the Winnipeg Jets a 9.1% chance of winning the Stanley Cup.

Other Canadian teams pale in comparison, with only the Leafs rating above 3% (4.7%).

So, let’s talk about the Winnipeg Jets. After the Dubois trade fleecing of the Kings, the removal of locker room malcontents (Dubois, Wheeler) and securing critical stars to long-term deals (Scheifele, Hellebuyck), the Jets are driving forward with a formidable four line team and oozing of depth. Star prospects are percolating off the roster. The Jets have a lot of ammo and cap space to further arm their squadron.

The Jets boast the best third line in hockey (Lowry, Niederreiter, Appleton). They are so dominant that they are now eating up second line minutes.

Jets are POUNDING the opposition:

Jets are OUTSKILLING the opposition:

Who will stop this Canadian juggernaut? Frankly, I don’t think there is a team more deserving of success than one backed by Guffman.

I will now open up commentary to the community. Are the Winnipeg Jets Canada’s best hope of ending the Stanley Cup drought?

I have the Canucks as the better chance. Vegas had a short summer plus they don’t have stones caphit on LTIR to maximize the cap. LA is a very good team, but I’m unsure of their goaltending.

I'd probably put my money on every other team except Calgary, provided that it's for "Next team to win the Cup" rather than "Likeliest Canadian Team to Win it in 2024".

For 2024, Vancouver ahead, maybe Toronto too. And... gasp... Edmonton. Because, if they're ending up in the playoffs, that's probably because they're on a tear and figured out something (and acquired players helping them).

Added some video testimonials to OP for those not watching elite Jets hockey.

Habs at 0.1% for this year. I guess we can check in on them in five or so years.

That's the thing. Montreal and Ottawa are certainly not winning it this season. But their odds will increase over time, and my bet is that they're likelier to be the next Canadian team winning than the Jets are, whether that is in 2024 or not.

Of course, Jets are likelier to win in 2024. They won't win, but they're likelier than Montreal and Ottawa (and Calgary and maybe Toronto, too).

What am I missing? Why are the 12-5-2 jets over twice as likely to win as the 14-6-1 Canucks? Canucks have VGK and LAK in their division, but the Jets have COL and DAL.
When I saw that I was guessing last year's record? Or is it bias by American odds makers who don't follow teams in Canada?

There was a time when I thought the jets were a legitimate cup contender on paper. They were STACKED in 2018. Not sure what happened exactly for them to lose to Vegas that year, but I do remember hellebyuck not being very good. Maybe they ran out of gas after that nashville series, which was one of the best that I can recall in recent history.

These days, they still have some good peices, but I think they missed their opportunity by not advancing to the final back then.

Playing well right now, but the premise of this thread is way premature. And they have lost to Vegas twice already. I will be interested in seeing what happens to them come January and February. They were looking good last year at this time too. Then look what happened.

Wheeler and PLD were addition by subtraction in terms of the make-up of the room. Nice to see Ehlers getting back to form too. That’s huge for this offense. He’s such a sublime talent.

Do I trust Scheifele as the #1 center or the overall talent level of the defense being worthy of true Cup contender status? Absolutely not. But they are definitely deeper and seem more cohesive than in recent years. I can see them being a feisty challenge for anybody in any round.

I am surprised it is a 9.1%. It's that high for the Jets? Well it would help them probably permanently stay in Winnipeg if they won, I would guess that.

My feeling is they’re a better candidate to have a 23 Florida/21 Montreal going in with one of their average seasons and then Helly getting hot.
