Are the Caps this years biggest frauds?

If I'm not mistaken they've had one of the easiest schedules in the league this year - for remaining games they have the 2nd easiest schedule. Thompson's wins have been against mediocre teams. I do think they will face challenges in the playoffs against consistently better teams.

Ya I guess my question would be what about them seems fraudulent? They weren't a team that was expected by many to make a big jump from last year but they made a lot of really good moves in the offseason and the East is just not a powerhouse this year so they are playing well and the results are showing this.

Like I don't expect them to necessarily be Eastern Conference Champs and go to the cup final but also why not?

This team is legit. I could see them pulling off a major upset against someone like NJ in the playoffs.
In what world would that be an upset lmao
In Las Vegas? Caps are around the 9th-11th betting favorite to win the cup, just ahead of the Kings

NJ has the 5th best odds

The league isn't even ready for when Leonard finishes up BC's season and joins us before the playoffs. The Caps are deep across the board - you cannot say enough good things about our offseason acquisitions and how management/coaching has handled this team

There's absolutely zero pressure on the Caps to win in the playoffs whereas NJ has a ton. The caps winning a playoff round is just icing on the cake to their season.
NJ picked 10th in the draft last season. On what planet does NJ have a "ton" of pressure to win in the playoffs? Just making the playoffs as a top three spot in the division is a significant improvement for them. If anything the far and away front runners have the pressure to win in the playoffs. If the Caps finish at approximately 120 points in the regular season and bow out in the first round you think that's a good result?

I see they have 7 OT losses which has given them a but of an artificial lead over some of rest of the leaders in the east,
So to be clear, you favor 3on3 overtime and shootout wins? It would not have been an artificial lead if they had instead lost in regulation more, and won more overtimes and shootouts?

Actually you are mistaken, they had the #1 most difficult schedule in the first half of the season, and still managed to be #1 in the league by point %. That front loaded schedule is the reason the back half of the schedule is ranked in the top 3 easiest.

Either way, strange comment since each team in a division plays a virtually identical schedule, which doesn’t differ much from the rest of the league.. this ain’t the NFL.

No, they can run 4 lines with their insane depth, also have a fantastic D unit, along with a stellar goalie.

2nd in goals, and goals against. thats elite.

I don't think they are as good as there record, but they have a deep team and good mix of guys plus good progression from Protas and McMichael, who are legit top 6 forwards. Chychrun and Dubois have been really good for them also and Thompson is having a Vezina quality year. They don't have a true superstar though, but they have some punch throughout the lineup that makes it tough for other teams.
Ovechkin is a true superstar. what are you saying.

Wouldn’t them having the 2nd easiest remaining schedule de facto mean they have had one of the most difficult schedules to this point in the season? And it is not as though they play in a weak division. As much as you seem to want to, you can’t have it both ways.

I haven't watched them much this year, but they looked like the real deal when they played the Jets last weekend. They are a deep team with size. They seem built for the playoffs.

How can they have one of the easiest schedules so far but 2nd easiest moving forward?
