Are the Canucks trying to replicate the 2019 St Louis Blues Gigantic Dcore that won the Cup? Can it be successful in todays Hockey.

Can we go one thread with out mentioning Mcdavid or how great the Oilers are like its becoming tiresome

You should stop visiting any thread about the Canucks then.

Nuck fans are clinically unable to talk about anything without somehow relating it to the Oilers in some way. Truly fixated, truly obsessed.

Losing that series sent them into a tailspin that they still aren’t out of.

Making this comment in a Canucks thread that (once again) is infested with the same 3-4 Oilers fans who hyper post in every Canucks thread is certainly a choice.

Re: Canucks D, jury is out on whether the coaching staff can pull it out. Really curious to see how it’ll unfold.

You sound pretty obsessed with the Canucks yourself.

He's a prime candidate for the Canucks to try and upgrade on....Much like the Canucks did last year when they traded for Zadorov mid-season. Thats where another Puck Moving Dman might come in. However im very intrigued with Forborts ability to be physical and his penalty killing numbers have been excellent. Maybe Bruin fans can shed more light

He is very very good on the PK but his extreme below average puck skills are a liability. By the end of his time in Boston, the amount of folks who thought the trade off was worth it was…well…I can’t recall any. But Boston had a really good PK group in general, so that doesn’t mean the trade off won’t be worth it elsewhere.

He had his most success on the bottom pairing with a puck moving RHD (Clifton) against lower end competition. Problem is that in the playoffs he would get targeted over and over and over when it gets harder to hide your weak links.

They originally tried him with McAvoy when they first signed him, but gave up on that quickly when the goals for % was under 40% for McAvoy with Forbort and nearly 65% without Forbort. The lack of puck skills against top talent was very apparent.

But it’s totally possible that the systems and surrounding guys in Vancouver can hide his puck skills better than Boston could and the Canucks could use the PK help making the trade off much better. Certainly a reasonable contract to give him, but also a potential spot for upgrade at the TDL.

People like his dog.

The Oilers were highlighted in the OP.

Nuck fans made it the theme instantly. I know, it’s hard to let go.

A d-core that size holding an injured McDavid to 9 points in 7 games isn’t exactly good…

And the d-core got worse.

Nobody is frightened of the Canucks defence like you’re making it out to be.
I mean, doesn't this make the Canucks the most successful team at neutralizing him this playoffs?

It's nice that Oilers and Canucks have a rivalry again.
Just look at this disaster of a thread.

We just need the Flames to be good again and it could be super fun.

OP mentioned McDavid. You didn't seem upset when they were talking about "containing" him.

As for OP, I think the Canucks are trying to shore up areas they struggled. The PK got torched in the playoffs and Vinny will help there, but he also really struggles with speed. Zadorov is better than any of the D they added, so I think it's a bit worse than last year. But, they could gel. We'll see.

Size didn't win the Blues a cup. It's just a coincidence these guys were big. Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, Parayko, Edmundson is an INSANE top 4, one of the best I've ever seen. The Canucks cannot have a "big defense" because even if their other 5 dmen were all 6'10" they'd still have a 5'10" dman on the ice for half the game.

Canucks look primed to desperately trade for a puck mover in season.

The current D roster is better than last season's opening night D. They desperately traded... a 3rd for Zadorov, who is the "big loss" everyone has been harping on about.

Alvin is a master with cap maneuvers, he'll find another guy.

Its all about having big D... for their run to the finals in 2021, Montreal rolled with -

Weber 6'4
Petry 6'3
Chariot 6'3
Edmundson 6'5
Kulak 6'2
Romanov 6'1

10+ posts in every Canucks thread. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
2 threads to be specific. Stop whining about hockey forum users posting in a forum about hockey.

Back to the topic at hand. Nobody fears this defence. Vinny brings size but limited mobility.
