Are Calgary and/or Columbus going to make the playoffs?

Which teams will make the playoffs

Nope. If the Habs can't take care of business themselves, why should they be in the playoffs?
If CBJ makes it, it means they took care of business and it will be fully deserved.
Because they can also win against Carolina and the fact that they already accumulated enough point that if Columbus lose a game they’re eliminated suggest that they took care of business already.

I actually wouldn’t mind Calgary sneaking in.

The Wild have struggled at home this year compared to their road record, but will probably win their last game at home vs the Ducks.

Blues have one home game left vs Utah. Utah has been decent on the road this year and the Blues seem to be sputtering after blowing their load on a 12-game win streak so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility that the Blues lose their final game at home.

But even if that happens the Flames still have to win out to get in vs the Knights and Kings.

It’s amazing how chill you feel about your teams biggest rivals after beating them in a second round playoff series. When they have nothing to say you can just relax lol.

If the Habs would have taken care of business already, why are we talking about the possibility of CBJ making the playoffs...?
:dunno:
Because Montreal's still ahead and Columbus edging them out is still just a remote possibility. Habs won six straight games before losing to Ottawa and an OTL against Toronto. They've been playing great hockey, but weren't going to win every game.

Likewise, while Columbus has won their last four, they lost three straight before then. Why didn't Columbus take care of business? Because you can't win every game.

I’m guessing none because it just seems very unlikely that the necessary chokes will happen. There are some pretty bad opponents in between MTL/STL/MIN and the playoffs.
CBJ can only make the PO by either finishing with more points than MON or being tied with them, but ahead on RW. They are 3 back of MON and 1 behind in RW. If they win both in Reg that points them 1 point up and 1 ahead on RW. If Mon only gets 1 more point or 0 in their final 2 games, then CBJ would make the PO because of the RW tie breaker. If they have the same RW, then MON gets in on the next tie breaker of ROW.

Min needs 1 more point to secure a WC spot. They are 3 up on Cal and ahead on RW. STL needs a RW to clinch a PO spot as at best Cal can tie them in RW and points but lose on ROW.

Cal like CBJ needs to win games in Reg and get some help.

Can't be bothered to find it, but I saw this on Twitter and I lol'd.

Said something like "CBJ on a random day in April while facing elimination"

There isn't a chance in hell the Ducks are beating Minnesota. Half the roster is already mentally in Cancun.

Flames will also probably lose one of the two games left. Can't see Vegas and LA laying down.
The Ducks getting that OT victory against Calgary last week, coming back from 3-1 will be the reason the Flames miss out. With a RW in that game, Calgary could have won the tiebreaker with the Blues by winning their game in hand in regulation.

Now they are hoping for spoilers.

Minnesota almost blew a lead 3 goal lead to San Jose, spotted 2 to Vancouver. I really think anything is possible. Wild fans can't be happy with the way the team has drifted from tops in the NHL to the playoff cut line with one game left.

Same goes with St. Louis. Should win at home but it's hockey, on any given day...

Columbus I don't get them. Quite the choke job they pulled when they were comfortably in the playoff picture, with the Devils in sight.

The Wild have been fully decimated by injuries , probably worse than any other team in the league. They were also pretending when they were floating around the top

Wild need to get to extra time. They do that and they are in.

Blues, win vs Utah in regulation and Cal is done. Win in extra time, then Cal has a chance to pass them.
None of them will make it.

Habs will clinch a playoff spot tonight.

Flames will lose their remaining games.
SO loss for Mon keeps cbj alive. Jackets need to win out in regulation and need a Mon reg loss in their finale to get in.

If we cant beat Chicago at home to clinch playoffs we dont deserve playoffs
What he said - Habs don’t deserve to make it. They’ve blown 3 chances to clinch and are playing terrible hockey.

Columbus would be a way cooler matchup at story. Plus the rivalry with Washington. Montreal would be kind of boring, they’d probably get wiped clean by Washington.

I posted this on the Flames board... it's all teh scenarios.

these are the possibilities for us taking a playoff spot from either STL or MIN
:blues
Tues ResultFlames need to do this to pass them...
Regulation winNothing, can't be done
OT or SO winwin out in regulation as it would give the Flames the tie breaker
OT or SO losswin out, any wins will do
Regulation lossget 3 points in final 2 games

Funny enough, we could actually steal WC1 and face Vegas in round 1.
This is possible if ....
both the Wild lose in regulation and we win out, any type of win
Wild lose in regulation and the Blues do not win in regulation and we win both out games in regulation

Pat Maroon ends his career with a hat trick or GWG and sends the Habs home and helps get the Bluejackets in.

I want THAT storyline.

Nothing funnier than the grunting, straining prose about what a team 'deserves'. Keep trying.
