1st overall pick training with undrafted Xhekaj.

Glad to see him back on the ice.

You're telling me f***, lol
I've been secretly mortified this whole time for his injury since he got it, as shoulders can get tricky for NHLers sometimes
So I'm glad he's at least ready to train *for* the summer instead of spending all summer rest and rehabbing or any other complications

Is he a lock in the line-up to begin the season? He will probably fight with Barron and Harris for the bottom pairing . They might rotate .

I think he deserves to start tho. He brings an needed edge when he’s on the ice .He was impressive before getting hurt . Physicality , size , and quite mobile for a big man.

He will probably be the 3rd LD behind Matheson and Ghule.

Matheson Edmundson
Ghule Savard
Xhekaj Barron
Harris-Kovacevic

this defense could surprise many

The kid had a real good season before getting hurt.....our D should be better for sure.
I also see Edmundson traded over the summer, so we may go with 7 D

I'm a big fan of Xhekaj. He is not just a physical beast, he have really good offensive potential in him. I really like his passing ability and he have great shot aswell.

Love this kid, he’s a solid, trustworthy 3rd pairing D. with burgeoning offensive talents & a physicality we desperately need. Oh BTW he’s only 22. We need to sign him long term.

Not a big fan of Ds gooning it up. We need someone to take care that.

Can't wait to see both brothers start some shit up together in a couple of years.

*Montreal is losing 3-0 after 10 minutes and the other team start talking shit*

Alright, boys, you know what to do - Marty.

*Both Xhakej jumps over the board in a Hanson's fashion. Bell Center starts playing X Gon Give It To Ya mid shift*

Let Reaves lump up Pez.....Xhekaj is too good to waste his time and risk injury with neanderthals like Reaves and his ilk.

That would be a double XX show.....they don't show the finishing shot

Honestly what I enjoy more from Arber is the physicality in his play, it sounds painful when he literally slams players along the board. Bonus is that unlike Romy if you have a problem with it, it will be worse then the check.

I would much rather see Arber take care of Trouba & Gudas then Reaves. He even said this year that he had watched the game where Kassian ran Monty...

Imagine if on day 1, Xhekaj beats the crap out of the undisputed heavyweight champ Reaves ?
I can’t imagine either Harris or Barron ( as much as I like them both ) replacing him in the lineup.
With all the heavyweights pouring in our division this summer, Xhekaj is more important than ever.

Arber is definitely a tough guy, but he has much more to offer on the ice than fighting. I honestly hope he focuses less on fighting and more on improving his impact on the ice.

Remember what happened to Mike Komisarek when he thought he was a tough guy? Aber is obviously a much better fighter though.

I'm happy that he's able to fight and good at it however i don't want him to search for it.

I too believe he can be much better than he displayed up to now. He was clearly NHL material on his rookie year but so green, he needs experience and good coaching (looks like a guy that's easy/fun to coach).

Imagine this guy in 3 years, mature, after having worked on his game/skills and integrated tips from the veterans. He could be that 5th D too good to take out the roster that stays for 10+ years.

Xhekaj + Kovacevic on the 3rd line could be damn solid as Kovacevic is still young , was pretty good in a 6th D role and he too kept improving. Having a reliable physical 3rd pair that is cost controled is a big plus in a contending team.
