Pre-Game Talk: Apparently Skinner is starting Game 2

He did, but he was f***ing UNPLAYABLE the rest of the season, there's no reason to trust him, I don't care how much you base being mad a Stu now retroactively.

You guys and your blind spot for how horrendous Campbell was is infuriating.
Again- Stuart’s playoff numbers that year were WORSE than Campbell’s in the regular season. By this logic, why wasn’t Stu considered unplayable.

Using your same logic- Stu has very close numbers to “unplayable” Campbell. Why is he starting tonight? You’re talking circles

He's right beside his man. McDavid is covering a photographer in the corner.

That's pretty basic stuff. And anyway, we were talking about Skinner's +/- on the play. What does the minus have to do with his play on that one?
that goal doesn't happen if Bouchard doesn't make a smarter play to begin with
anyways, he has nothing to do with that play...you're using 1 sequence to prove what exactly?

We also need some far better coaching this game from Knob as well. Part of the problem in game 1. His Josh Brown decision for a 4 minute stint, putting him on the first PK, and then running McDrai out in the last minute after they each had about 3 straight minutes of a high intensity shift ultimately sealed our fate.

The only logical explanation I can up up with starting Skinner is either the owner, GM, or head coach were doing disgusting things with farm animals and Stu possesses the video proof and is threatening to send it out. There is no other logical explanation here, NONE. I DO NOT GET IT, AT ALL.

It’s mind boggling…

I gave up trying to figure it out, from game 1 this season, never seen this ridiculous stupidity in Pro sports.

I don't care that he did well that one time, Stu is frustrating, Campbell was utterly untrustworthy.

Do you trust Stu right now? Because I sure don't. One good series and three multi-game implosions over six rounds in two postseasons doesn't inspire any confidence in me, especially with how he's steadily regressed season over season over season (not a typo).

He's Steve Mason meets Dan Cloutier.

I keep hearing this 25 pound rumor the last few days. Is there any kind of link out there corroborating this claim or did it start as a tweet and grow legs.

If it's true, the team should have created consequences for that right out of camp. Suspend the guy for reporting out of shape (which is allowed) and force him to get his shit together.
Corroboration, he slow as f***,

I tried to 2x speed up the replays and he still doesn't make a save ;)

Arvidsson is a plug and I agree, but the reason Draisaitl has always favoured the likes of Yamamoto and Podkolzin is because they work like dogs along the walls, digging out pucks and winning battles, and had enough offensive acumen to know when to get the puck to him and where to go. Less need for him to do the heavy work. Podkolzin was invisible in game 1. He can do a great deal of small things that go unnoticed in a game but when he is on he keeps plays alive. Unfortunately that was not the case in the first game so he had better show up here and make a difference. He will never, ever be a producer at this point. You'd be happy to get 15-20 = 35 out of him in a season.
Believe it or not. There are guys who work had along the boards that are over 5’6” and 150 lbs.

I've seen all of that. I'm just looking for evidence of the actual 20 lb weight gain over a summer. If that's true that should have been a major red flag, so I doubt it's accurate. Gaining 20 lbs over the course of a few seasons would make some sense and understandable he started a bit young, just not over a single summer.

Ultimately his draft weight was 205, so 230 8 years later doesn't seem strange. I suspect its moreso the team just didn't update his weight stats on any webpage until recently and someone's running with it as being him gaining weight in one summer.

Oh common, Stu isn't that bad. He is just the worst active playoff goalie in the NHL. What is it 30+ playoff games?

So he gained 22 pounds. You can just tell by how slow he is that he does not value personal fitness so he can move quicker. Just get down in your butterfly or try to get across like the Byfield goal by shuffling over 5 times instead of one big push lol.

I wonder if this dude hides twinkies in his pants

Oiler management/ownership has proven over and over again their ineptitude. I’ve cancelled my sportsnet and vpn and no longer GAF as I am in Europe for the playoffs. F@ck Katz and his gong show. McDavid should absolutely be weighing his options for where he wants to spend what’s left of his career….

Skinner leash better be very short. Historically, he usually bounces back after a bad game though... so let's hope that is the case.
We were hoping for a short leash in the last game and they gave him enough rope to hang himself. That he’s starting again after that performance suggests there is no leash, he’s their guy and we sink or swim with him. Of course we already knew this whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not. That’s why most of the board was so angry on trade deadline day.

Mcdavid should definitely not sign as soon as possible. Even if he wants to, make the org sweat and get to work this off season. Enough was enough 4-5 years ago.
