Kopitar actually (according to advance stats) was dominant last night.

The Kings were never on the wrong side of the puck, and the Rangers didn' generate jack when Kopitar was on the ice.

Kopitar put on a defensive clinic, Only problem I had with Kopitar last night was the PP. Kopitar turned the puck over too many times on the PP.

Carter had tons of room to skate, he really is going to benefit from Kopitar drawing the tough match-up.

I think the Rangers had more to do with Kopitar or any other King doing much on the PP. They are aggressive and quick and as we saw last night dangerous on the PK. I think the Rangers had more scoring chances on the PK then the PP.

It seems like none of you read that I basically want him to dangle more.

He is Kopitar not Patrick Kane. Is the same with DD. Suddenly he is main candidate for CS, because he made some flashy plays (and mistakes too).

Its not about being flashy, it's about buying space. I'm not talking about through the legs, or jumping around defenseman, I'm talking about some stick handling to back off defenseman to buy himself a little more time. He doesn't do that, and I think it would really benefit him as a player going forward if he does more to create space for himself.

Kopitar is awesome. Every game. Hasn't taken a night off, literally or figuratively, the entire postseason.

Just because he had a nice monthlong point streak, people expect him to be on the scoreboard every single night. When he's not on the scoreboard, even for just one game, there's something wrong. NO.

Of any player on the Kings, Kopitar has been the most consistent throughout the playoffs. From game 1 to game 22, there's no discernible change in his game. He controls play in all three zones every time he's on the ice.

Kopitar isn't all about dangles. He beats opponents by using his teammates to control the puck as much as possible. There's no risk to his game. That's what makes him so good.

Doughty may end up winning the Conn Smythe this year, and Carter may end up with more points, but to me, Kopitar has been the best player all season and post-season long. He makes all the right plays, small or big, to help the team win.

He got robbed in 2012 and will be robbed again this year. Toews is similar, but is named the next Jesus, because he is good 'ol Canadian boy. Kings would have been golfing right now, if Kopitar didn't lead them in first two rounds.

But, according to the ducks, John Gibson was the 2nd coming of Jesus! :sarcasm:

i'm optimistic about kopi in next games. his game 1 was far from perfect. but he is also a smart player, flexible, he can adjust. i think he knows exactly why he wasn't 100% in game 1 and what to do about it.

then i'm not sure how darryl looks at it. it seems that darryl made a very big bet on lak's depth, expecting all lines to deliver in every zone, and obviously he's not trying to make more room for lak's 1st line. kopi's performance mirrors that logic, good defence > sweet dangles, he must shadow the most dangerous opponents all the time.

They got it all wrong. He was the 3rd coming of Jesus, but then clasless Kings got the best of him.

I hope his confidenc isn't ruined to much.

However when other players are around stick handling is sometimes considered a risky play. He's not a risky player.
And I think he probably got the highest praise he'll almost ever get last night when Gretzky called him the 3rd best player in the world on HNIC. Of course it was behind two good ol Canadian boys.

Kopitar has one of the sweetest hands I've ever seen, especially his first year the man was dekeing left and right, dangling like crazy. It was fun to watch. Kopitar isn't a risky player, I know that, but if Kopitar does at least try to add some Finesse to his game, even a little, would just be great for him.

He picked a bad time to vanish. Here's to hoping he reappears on the scoresheet sometime soon...

He far from vanished. Towes had 1 point while he was on the ice in 7 games. And has been pointed out the NYR got no shots 5 v 5 last night. He had a bad night in the dot which for him is a sign somethings off.

He hasn't had his best games of the playoffs the last 2 games, but he is leading the playoffs in points and is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, focuses of the offense. He's going to draw a lot of attention from the opposing team. I would like to see him a little more aggressive with shooting but I think in this system they mainly want Kopi to focus on being the facilitator for offense and get other players into it rather than be the primary goal scorer himself.

Typical. If the guy isnt on the SCORE sheet, it means he's lazy, loafing, or injured.

He had an awful, un-Kopitar like game yesterday. He was a turnover machine and looked terrible out there. He was one of the main reasons our PP looked like ****. It wasn't just scoring...

Yep. Know how many Rangers shots against Kopitar was on the ice for 5 on 5?

NONE.

9 Kings shots for though.

I was going to post that that was not entirely true because of his -1, when I realized that was on the PP and you wrote 5 on 5 so all these words and numbers me included are obsolete.

I think he just needs a goal to get back on track again and if not he is still very useful, but it would personally for me feel a lot better if he went on a Conn Smythe tear to shut up some HF fans. In their face like tear.

The talk about Kopi had a hard time on the dots game 1 is a bit more complicated since he actually most of the time did his job to some extent. He got the puck going in the direction to his teammates but rangers picked it up before it got there. Don't label me as an idiot just yet. This is a tactical face-off move by the rangers but the Kings should be able to adapt and counter it. How?

Don't ask me I'm the one asking the questions.

Face off win definition is when.. see below.

A statistic in hockey that measures the rate at which a player wins faceoff draws. Faceoff Percentage is used to measure the effectiveness at controlling the puck on faceoff drops and ensuring puck possession for the team.

source http://www.sportingcharts.com/dictionary/nhl/faceoff-percentage.aspx

So i Can't say Kopi actually won the face-off even though I really want to because the Rangers got there before who ever the **** didn't get there in time. It did happened a lot of times and those counts as Ranger face-off win since they took possession.

Now one could say that Kopi is the one that has to do a better job, but I won't say that. I don't want to. I want to blame all his teammates.

No seriously. I guess one of his wingers or one of the defence should be the one's getting there to take possession but with all interference allowed nowadays (in the PO's) it might be harder than normally. While I was watching the game all I saw was rangers picked up the puck behind Kopi all other things around that was just blurry for me since I was not paying any attention to anything else.

So teach me if i'm wrong or add something I missed. I know this is posted nighty-nighty time...should soon be morning I guess.

Here's the thing, every single player goes through periods of time when they aren't on the score sheet. The thing is, what makes Kopi such a good player, is that when he's not scoring he still makes important contributions to the teams success by playing great defensively.

There's so many guys in the league (i.e. Vanek, Nash, Giroux) who when not scoring goals/creating offense, make 0 impact on the rest of the game.

Hopefully this thread goes places because if there's one thing this board lacks, it's player specific complaint threads.
