Anything Goes 42

Been out of work since April 1st. The job hunt really f***ing blows right now. It's ridiculous how many applicants there are, the amount of companies just ghosting applicants, etc. No idea wtf is going on, but I had an easier time finding a job after the housing market crash than I am right now... Not to mention, companies all want to underpay for the roles they're advertising for. FML. Anyone has any leads on an IT role feel free to send em my way.

I agree. I got in on the end of last winter to get my latest job. It took well over 100 applications and the companies just ghost. I am happy where I laned but noticed I had no other interviews. But I hadn't applied for some time but still getting many rejection letters. I feel for ya man.

I’m at a fully remote company so we get a lot of applications that aren’t even remotely relevant… but when I was talking to our recruiter she was telling me they average 17,000 applicants per posting. Bonkers.

I've sent to probably 100+ in the last month. Two interviews. Both ghosted as of now. I'm looking at probably taking like a 10k pay cut just to find a damn job. Or even more, just to get a regular check coming in while I continue looking for something better.

I would love fully remote. I had been fully remote the last 5 years. Every time I see a fully remote position, it has hundreds of applicants. Shit is outrageous right now.

Yeah both my wife and I have been full time WFH for years now. We were talking about that the other night in terms of what it would take to get either of us back in an office and there isn't a realistic number that exists that would.

Assuming you're talking about LinkedIn... I think I saw at some point that clicking on something triggers that application number to go up even if an application isn't submitted, and so most of the time that number is wildly inflated. No idea how true that is or isn't, to be honest.
