Anything Goes 42

No one likes dry vermouth in their martinis anymore and they're completely missing out. They'd rather drink chilled vodka with so much olive juice that it's dirtier than the chicago river.

A gin martini with a vermouth rinse + lemon twist is just a perfect cocktail. Substance from the botanical gin, rounding out the flavor with the vermouth, and freshness from the citrus twist. Something about playoff hockey just gets the blood flowing for making cocktails at home
Ill take two please.

It is with heavy HEAVY hearts that our beloved Wrigley passed this morning. He has had a very tough week and we believe he had a liver cancer. He fought until this morning when he touched me and looked into my eyes with his wide open telling me he is going to go. Then waiting until his 2 besties came over to then allow himself to pass in our arms. The whole community is mourning him as he was such a big personality that loved everyone. We are beyond devastated and will take some time away I hope you all understand. Please give your fur babies a hug today and know Wrigley is watching with a heart so big the universe couldn’t contain it or his pure joy.

In 2011 the Mavs were so weak their regular season second and third leading scorers were Jason Terry who averaged only 15.8 PPG and Caron Butler who averaged only 15 PPG.

In 2014 the Spurs were so weak that their regular season three leading scores were Parker with 16.7 PPG, a 37-year-old Duncan who averaged only 15.1 PPG, and defensive specialist at the time 22-year-old Kawhi who averaged only 12.8 PPG.

The LeBron led Heat had him, Wade, and Bosh in their prime and lost to both those teams. Meanwhile Duncan and Kobe were winning more rings against tougher teams in the Finals. LeBron is obviously not one of the top two players in the last 30 years.

What do those scrubs all have in common?
1. None of them are HoFers.
2. All of them have horrible career SLG% less than .4111 which is not top 985 all-time.
3. All of them have a higher career SLG% than Pete Rose.

"Pete Rose dismissed questions on Sunday about his first appearance on the field in Philadelphia since the franchise scrapped plans in 2017 to honor him because of a woman's allegation that baseball's hit king had sex with her when she was a minor".

"It was 55 years ago, babe," Rose told a female baseball writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

"Who cares what happened 50 years ago?" Rose said, according to the Inquirer. "You weren't even born. So, you shouldn't be talking about it, because you weren't born. If you don't know a damn thing about it, don't talk about it."

There is a character clause in the HoF ballot. Admitting bad people in the past is not a valid argument for admitting them in the future. Pete Rose has admitted that he had a sexual relationship with a minor when he was in his 30s and married with kids.

Whether you look at stats or character Pete Rose is not a HoFer.

Well..

I'm all moved in to my house in Baltimore. I sold my BMW because insurance in the city was 350 a month and I drove like.. never.. only to play golf on the weekends. I had an XJ before and sold it.. So I bought another one. A beater 96 with manual locks and manual windows. 192k. Did the crank pulley this weekend, changed the oil, fixed the rear hatch struts so the trunk would fall on my head. New power steering pump, new water pump, thermostat, blah blah.. safe to say I've been watching a lot of YouTube.

I got it for 1500 bucks, it doesn't have rust which is why I still paid that even though it had some issues. I'm a bit worried this 4.0 ALSO needs a head gasket .. I hated doing my first one and the oil was a tad milky and I feel like I'm losing a little coolant.

I went from 205 to 188 so far. Been working out and lifting a lot. Living in the city is fun.. Learning a new skill like working on cars gives me some life. Haven't even thought a second about dating again. I walk everywhere. To target, run to the gym, walk to the grocery store. Its fun.

I miss living in a walkable area. I can bike to anything and everything I need in less than 2 miles, but it's not the same as just walking out the door.

Hop right back into dating dude. It doesn't mean you have to get into another serious relationship right away but being out and meeting new people is a part of life.

Idk. Just don't feel like I'm ready. Working out, working on my car and doing things by myself has been pretty fun.
At least don't shut yourself off from it. You should just move here to Chicago. Tons to do, tons of people, sounds like you've got yourself in an alright spot financially. Great place for a single guy to live

What are rinks charging for rat hockey in the area nowadays?

Thinking about skating again after a year off. I moved to the Tampa area a few years back and rinks are charging $20-$25 for 1hr 15, 1hr 30. Shitty ice at the rink closest to me too.

Chicago SW burbs were charging $8/10/12 for 2 hours not a too long ago. Free if you knew the guy cutting the ice.

Morgan Park probably has the best rates for this. It is ten bucks for a two hour session.
