Click your avatar > Preferences > select "Style" drop down and you'll then have 3 options.

Looks like you can also go to the very bottom of the page and it shows what mode you're using and you can change it there by clicking.

You got me thinking... I don't think I own any type of device to play any type of physical movie, show, etc.

We do have a record player we use often, and 1000s of passed down records with some that are 40-50+ years old.

But I couldn't play a DVD, or god forbid, a VHS tape.

Mullholland Drive is an amazing film imo. Top 20 all time for me.

I couldn’t get into all of his stuff but that one clicked for me.

the only thing i still have that reads dvd's is my ps3. used to make a point of always putting a disk drive in my pc's rven though they've been obsolete for more than a decade now, but this last one i built i skipped it.

If you don't own hard copy or hard data you don't own anything.

The only place I can think of that I'd maybe want/need access is on a long flight in the event the inflight entertainment doesn't work.

Even then I can only think of one flight I've taken, from LA to New Zealand, I bothered to download some stuff just to be safe.

Blue Velvet is my all time classic cult movie (with Repo Man right behind it). He was a very good maker of movies that were not generally mainstream. Nobody would let him make those type of movies today. He will be missed!

There's media that you pay for that you lease that people think they own. If a company goes under and kills their servers you don't own it anymore unless you have the hard data saved somewhere.

I have signed into my Prime account at all kinds of different places (ipad for flights as you mention, parents, in-laws, cousins) to watch a movie that purchased on there.

There's media that you pay for that you lease that people think they own. If a company goes under and kills their servers you don't own it anymore unless you have the hard data saved somewhere.

I do have a lot of stuff saved on a Plex as well, but I can't say I'm super worried about losing my access to Amazon Prime anytime soon.

Though, I should say I don't buy a lot of stuff either. I'm more of a renter when it comes to movies I want to watch.

I do buy physical books, but that's just because I prefer to read them that way.

My dad does the Plex server thing and personally I think he’s wasted a lot of time doing it. Even still aren’t you then just reliant on Plex never going out of business and maintaining their servers? If you had to make a bet on who will be around longer, Amazon or Plex, I know who I’m going with.

My wife kept a ton of DVDs and while it’s nice not to have to rent “Dogma” or whatever and spend $3.99, the picture and sound quality is worse than just streaming it.

Pending some societal collapse I’m not too concerned about losing access to any digitally purchased games or movies.

Yeah that's true with Plex as well. Though I guess the more access you have in different places, the less likely you are to lose it for good?

But like we both said, I ain't too worried about losing it anyway. If Amazon collapses, I think we might have bigger issues ahead than whether I can access a couple movies.
