I'm not trying to be all macho but unless you are doing 3+ plates, you don't need straps. Having grip strength is important by itself

I'm almost there for squats and dead lift. I'm at 2 plates and a quarter for both. Bench press isn't even close, but I find I have a little bit of weakness getting the bar off the rack on it so I would appreciate the extra support.

Many football players here at Augie use them when they get to higher weights. I personally don't, but I don't find anything wrong with using them unless it is really light weight and you truly shouldn't be using them.

Russian Olympic lifters use them right up until they get near competition time, so theres no shame in using straps but as we've said, don't use them until you're dead lifting at least 275+

UI Board of Trustees approved a new College of Medicine for UIUC. It's the campus's first new college in nearly 60 years.

It's a beautiful day today and I have the day off. I might have to go for a walk. It's too nice to be inside.

Just got off from driving on Lake Shore Drive. God that lake is so blue! Most beautiful part of the city hands down.

Last night I went to bed around 8:45, and that's the earliest I have gone to bed in a very very long time. I have some type of sickness and just said screw it, I'm going to bed. Woke up around 3:30 in the morning, which woulda been a little over 6 hours of sleep which my norm, and realized I still had like 5 1/2 more hours to sleep. That was awesome. So glad I did that. Still dealing with the illness but my body never felt to refreshed in the morning.

I finally broke down and bought a new sporting clays gun. Probably won't help my score but at least I will look better losing.

Went for a nice, four mile walk after work and then sank six hours into Cities: Skyline.

Phenomenal city builder. Would recommend.

Well, for those who still do the Saturday Before St. Paddy's All Day Madness thing, you have a hell of a day for it. Can't ask for much better mid-March in Chicago than this.

Still in the beginning processes of figuring this out, but it appears I may be headed to Virginia over the weekend to support Augie! Actually, if enough students go, they said they will cancel classes on Thursday and Friday. That would be too sweet.
