Take away 6 of his 11 goals to account for the shooting percentage if you'd like. Still 24 points in 17 games. And the eye test for anyone who has been watching him this year and in the past is that he's always had utterly insane talent and natural skill and ability, like in that McDavid tier (or 1 below if you put him on his own tier) even. His skating is just unbelievably good. His past issues have been in decision making and strength on the puck, which is where a switch seems to have flipped here because this year I haven't really seen a single bad decision made with the puck this year and he's become very hard to knock off the puck. He's finally seeing the ice and using his skills and his teammates to the best of his ability.

Also, I wasn't really clear in my other post. He's pacing for 145 points--no, I don't see that being likely to happen/being sustainable. What I meant by it being sustainable was that he has taken a step forward and this level of play is sustainable, I didn't mean that I think the level of production will hold up. But I do see him settling in as a consistent 82-100 point guy going forward. Maybe he does take another step even past that and could come closer to that 145 pace than anyone could've imagined. I don't see that happening but I wouldn't completely rule it out from watching him this year. Seriously, just watch the guy out there this year. He's been the best player on the ice damn near every shift and is a threat any time the puck is on his stick anywhere on the ice.
Maybe the offseason training with Jagr, Pastrnak and Cervenka and arguably the best performance within the Czech team at WC 2024 helped him too - both in confidence and in smarter moves.

He had such a swagger at the Worlds. We took on Sweden and Sweden hadn't allowed more than 2 goals or something insanely good. They had Dahlin, Hedman and Karllson on D. He torched them for 4 points before the end of the 2nd and he was everywhere. I put it down to big ice, world's isn't a top tier event and playing at home.

He seems to have kept that momentum. Really curious if he can sustain this and stay healthy. I don't expect him to win the Ross but 82 points does seem reasonable right about now.

Fantastic start, but something we’ve seen a hundred times—hot first quarter, maybe even first half from someone unexpected that corrects for the rest of the season.

We can safely assume he won’t finish with 135+ points. He has built enough of a buffer where he probably hits 100 though, which is a wild success and a big improvement for an already really strong Carolina team.

Either way, always fun to see a player like this in the mix early on.

As a Canes fan I’m alternating between being speechless and knowing that if Rod just gave him top pp time and consistent linemates this could happen. The consistent production doesn’t surprise me at all, the total points is really surprising because of his 5v5 linemates on paper would appear useless for offense. We all knew he had it in him it just seemed like he was maybe never going to figure out how to use his speed better. His timing is much better this season and his usual fragile confidence is on an epic roll. That’s the key, maintaining some confidence when he cools off a bit.

I love that 5v5 it’s still just KK and Robinson. Robinson being the perfect linemate is pretty enjoyable to watch. He knows he has to just keep it simple, be fast and work hard. Defers to the other two for actual puck carrying and KK has let go of trying to make things happen and just go with the flow of the play. It allows Necas the time, space and full acceptance that he can and will create all he wants. This combined with the key half wall spot on the pp where they actually run the play through him has allowed us to see him go full Necas. I think he’ll maintain some level of production all season because of the PP spot. He’s feeding Aho, Svech and Ghost on their strong sides. Even when pucks stop pinballing in he should still get pts.

Jagr was a lot like this in his prime (after Mario). He preferred more lunchpail type guys who'd skate like hell and get it to him and get open. Simple games and let him do his thing. Not comparing Necas to Jagr.lol
